Professor Alexander Seifalian CEOand Professor Nanotechnology & Regenerative Medicine Nanotechnology & Regenerative Medicine Commercialisation Centre (Ltd) London BioScience Innovation Centre, London, United Kingdom Alexander Seifalian, Professor of Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine worked at the Royal Free Hospital and University College London for over 26 years, during this time he spent a year at Harvard Medical School looking at caused of cardiovascular diseases and a year at Johns Hopkins Medical School looking at the treatment of liver cancer. He published more than 647 peer-reviewed research papers and registered 14 UK and International patents. On editorial boards of 41 journals. He supervised 121 PhD students, all successfully completed. He is currently CEO of NanoRegMed Ltd, working on the commercialisation of his research. During his career, Prof Seifalian has led and managed many large projects with successful outcomes in terms of commercialisation and translation to patients. In 2007 he was awarded the top prize in the field for the development of nanomaterials and technologies for cardiovascular implants by Medical Future Innovation, and in 2009 he received a Business Innovation Award from UK Trade & Investment (UKTI). He was the European Life Science Awards’ Winner of Most Innovative New Product 2012 for the “synthetic trachea”. Prof Seifalian won the Nanosmat Prize in 2013 and in 2016 he received the Distinguish Research Award in recognition of his outstanding work in regenerative medicine from Heals Healthy Life Extension Society. His achievements include the development of the world first synthetic trachea, lacrimal drainage conduit, and vascular bypass graft using nanocomposite materials, bioactive molecules and stem cell technology. Currently, he is working on the development and commercialisation of human organs using graphene-based nanocomposite materials and stem cells technology. Recently he has commercialised a novel functionalised graphene oxide for medical and other industrial applications and synthetic graphene-based nanocomposite materials for surgical and medical devices application. He is currently working on the development of facial organs, heart valves and tendons.

Dr. Mineo Hiramatsu received his Ph.D. from Nagoya University, Japan in 1987, and thereafter started his professional career as research associate of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Meijo University, Japan. He is a Full Professor of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Meijo University since 2006. His main fields of research are plasma diagnostics and plasma processing for the synthesis of thin films and nanostructured materials. He served as chairman and member of organizing and scientific committees of international conferences on plasma chemistry and plasma processing. Author of more than 150 scientific papers and patents on plasma processes for materials science. He was awarded the Japan Society of Applied Physics Fellow in 2017.

Dr. Katsumi Kaneko studied chemistry at Yokohama National University in Japan and molecular science at master program of University of Tokyo. Dr of Science was awarded by Univ. of Tokyo in 1978. He had been professor of physical chemistry, Chiba University until March in 2010. He moved to Shinshu University in 2010 as distinguished professor. He published more than 500 papers on international journals. Chemical Society of Japan and American Carbon Society awarded him in 1999 and in 2007(Charles Petinos Award), respectively. He is fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry, International Adsorption Society, and Chemical Society of Japan.

Professor Guosheng Shao is the Director of the State Centre for International Cooperation on Designer Low-carbon & Environmental Materials (CDLCEM) at the Zhengzhou University, China. He is also the Founding Director of the Zhengzhou Materials Genome Institute (ZMGI, 2016-), Editor-in-Chief for Energy & Environmental Materials (Wiley, 2018-), and Visiting Professor to the University of Surrey, UK (2018-). He earned his PhD in materials science at the University of Surrey in 1995 and thereupon worked as a research fellow and senior research fellow, until transferring to Brunel University as Reader in Materials in 2005. He joined the University of Bolton as Professor of Materials Modelling & Simulation in 2007, and then established the Institute for Renewable Energy and Environmental Technologies (IREET, 2011) as its founding director, together with the responsibility as Head of Engineering etc. His academic interest is “designer” materials and application devices, which is characterized by multi-scale modelling, advanced characterization techniques esp. TEM, EELS and XPS, and advanced thin film coating technologies. His current focus is mainly on sustainable (renewable) energy systems and environmental technologies. He is also proactive in bridging academic knowledge with manufacturing, resulting in commercialization of inventions covering mass production of almost defect-free graphene powders and graphene thin films, their applications and processing facilities.

David has a 33-year career in research in academia, industry and government research laboratories in Canada, Japan and Australia. He was with the University of Sydney for over 15 years, the last 10 of which were with the ARC Centre of Excellence CUDOS. David still holds an honorary Professorial Fellow position with the University of Sydney. Professor Moss has over 520 publications including numerous articles in Nature family journals and conference papers with around 7000 citations and an h-index of 46. He is leading extensive international research networks in nanophotonics and other areas. David has been highly successful at winning ARC competitive research grants and has won a number of notable awards for his research including the 2011 Australian Museum Award and the Google Eureka Science Prize for Innovation. David is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America and the IEEE.

Filippo Giubileo currently works as Researcher at the Institute for Superconductors, Innovative Materials and Devices (SPIN) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR), since 2004.He has the National Scientific Qualification as Full Professor in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics. He has been member of the scientific evaluation panel for the Flag-Era Joint Transnational call on graphene basic research. His research activity deals with electrical properties of 1D and 2D materials and their application as field effect transistors, photodetectors, chemical sensors, field emitters. His expertise includes advanced surface analysis on nanometer scale by scanning probe microscopy/spectroscopy in high magnetic field and variable temperatures, fabrication and characterization of superconducting heterostructures, pairing symmetry and electronic properties in superconductors. FG is listed in the World Top 2% Scientist classification by PlosBiology. He has published more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He was Chair-Organiser for 6 international conferences (ISMN08, SM-2010, S4E-2014, GM-2016, TTN-2018, NANO M&D-2019). He serves as member of editorial board for several international journals (Nanomaterials, Nano Express, Journal of Nanomaterials, Chemosensors).

Dr. Renhao Dong is a TUD Young Investigator and leads an independent research group in the Chair of Molecular Functional Materials at Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry and Center for Advancing Electronics Dresden (cfaed), Technische Universität Dresden. He received his Bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 2008 and then doctor’s degree in physical chemistry in 2013 in Shandong University (Jinan, China). He joined the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (Mainz, Germany) as a research associate in July 2013. In 01/2017, he was appointed as a research group leader of organic 2D (O2D) materials in the Chair of Molecular Functional Materials. At present, he is an associate member of cfaed and PI of CRC-1415, SPP-1928 and ERC Starting Grant (FC2DMOFs).

Dr. Chang-Seok Lee is a Principal Researcher at SAIT (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology). He received his BS degree from the Department of Physics, Kyung Hee University (KHU), Seoul, Korea, in 2006, and his MS, PhD degree in the Department of Physics, Ecole Polytechnique, France in 2012. His current research focuses on 2D materials include (i) growth of 2D materials, (ii) developement of next-generation interconnect system based on 2D materials, and (iii) low-k dielectric material. He publisehd more than 31 papers on international journals and filed 30 patents. He was awarded Infinite research award 2014, and Grand paper award 2020 at Samsung.

Yaping Qi is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Macau University of Science and Technology. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in Physics in 2019 at the University of Hong Kong. She was a Research Fellow in Prof. David A. Weitz’s group at Harvard University from 2017 to 2018 and Research Associate at Purdue University from 2019 to 2021. She worked as a visiting postdoc at Purdue University (USA), Aarhus University (Denmark) and the University of British Columbia (Canada). She is currently working on 2D materials, AI and materials analysis, and thin films.

Cheng Tang received his B.Eng. and Ph.D. from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Tsinghua University in 2013 and 2018, respectively. He was a postdoctoral researcher at The University of Adelaide after graduation, and currently is a Lecturer there. He has published 1 authored book, 1 book chapter and > 70 research papers in refereed journals (over 8700 citations, h-index: 47, Google Scholar). He was awarded the 2020 World’s TOP 2% Scientists (released by Stanford University), 2019 Chorafas Foundation Award in Chemistry, the 2019 Springer Thesis Prize, the 2018 CPCIF-ClariantCleanTech Award, the Top-Grade Scholarship at Tsinghua University (10/35000). Dr. Tang is named as a 2020 Global Highly Cited Researcher in Cross-Field (Clarivate Analytics).

In 2006, graduated from Vilnius University, Lithuania. Received Bachelor and Master degrees from the Faculty of Chemistry. In 2010, received a Doctorate Degree at Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany). Performed scientific research in the Institute for Crystal Growth (Berlin, Germany). From 2016 to 2018 Technical Process Engineer and Research Fellow at the Centre for Physical Sciences and Technology in Vilnius Lithuania. Research field – innovative materials for production of magnetic field sensors. In 2017, received a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship. Since 2019 researcher in the Process and Device Research group at Innovations for High Performance Microelectronics (IHP GmbH), Frankfurt (Oder), Germany. Currently scientific activities are focused on enabling the wafer-scale integration of graphene in semiconductor technologies for various applications of graphene-based devices.

Dr. Guodong (David) Zhan is currently a Science Specialist and the Team Leader of Drilling Technology Team at the Exploration & Petroleum Engineering Center - Advanced Research Center, Saudi Aramco. Dr. Zhan is a world-renowned materials scientist and expert in advanced drilling tools/technology. He has nearly 30 years of experience in industrial R&D and managerial positions, including positions as Chief Engineer and R&D Manager at top oil/gas and semiconductor global companies such as Schlumberger and Applied Materials. Additionally Dr. Zhan has held academic positions at the University of London and the University of Colorado at Boulder, and staff scientist positions at the Japan National Institute for Materials Science and Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Science. Dr. Zhan is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineer (SPE), where he serves on several conferences as co-chair and technical committee member. He received many prestigious academic and industrial awards such as E&P Hart Energy Award, World Oil Award and IoT World Award. Dr. Zhan is also serving as an editorial board member and reviewer for a number of international scientific journals. Dr. Zhan has published in more than 200 peer-reviewed journals and technical publications such as Nature Materials and holds more than 120 filed/granted US patents with citations of 5,000+ and an H- index of 37.

Dr. Xingke Cai currently is an assistant professor in Shenzhen University, China. Hereceived his Degreesin Materials Science from Central South University, Institute of Metal Research (CAS) and Tsukuba University in 2009, 2012 and 2015, respectively.Then, he did postdoctoral research in University of California, Merced and Tsinghua-Berkeley Shenzhen Institute from 2016 to 2018 before joining Shenzhen University. His research has been focused on the scalable production of ceramic 2D materials by exfoliation techniques, including metal oxides, borides and carbides, and their energy storage applications, i.e. sodium ion batteries and Zn-air batteries.

Dr. Go Yamamoto is an Associate Professor of Department of Aerospace Engineering at Tohoku University, Japan. He received his Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Tohoku University in 2006 and experienced JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) Research Fellowship for Young Scientists and a visiting researcher at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. In 2016, he joined the Department of Aerospace Enginerring, Tohoku University, as an Associate Professor. His work focuses specifically on nanomechanics of carbon nanomaterials and their nanocomposites, which includes (1) Investigating nanostructure-property relationships in MWCNTs using machine-learning-assisted high-throughput molecular dynamics simulations, (2) Determination of full elastic constants of mechanically anisotropic materials by resonant ultrasound spectroscopy, (3) Tensile-strength-controlling factors in unidirectional CFRP composites, and (4) Multiple cracking analysis of brittle thin films coated on polymer substrates.
