Dr. Jinsong Liu is a professor with tenure in the Department of Anatomic Pathology at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. He received his medical education in China and came to the United States through the China–the United States Biochemistry Examination Application program (CUSBEA). He received his Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University in 1991. He completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan and his pathology residency and surgical pathology fellowship training at New York University School of Medicine from 1994 to 1999. He is certified by American Board of Anatomic Pathology. He joined the faculty in the Department of Pathology at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer in 1999 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2004 and professor in 2009 with tenure. Dr. Liu is an active member of a world-renowned diagnostic team focusing on gynecologic malignancies and also a laboratory investigator at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Liu is an internationally recognized for his achievements in ovarian cancer research and expertise in diagnosis of gynecologic pathology. His research has focused on the mechanisms of epithelial tumorigenesis, inflammation, tumor microenvironment. Recently, his group shows that polyploid giant cancer cells (PGCCs) can be the cancer origin of high-grade cancer and disease relapse and provides a unifying theory for the origin of human embryogenesis and human cancers. Dr. Liu’s research has been continuously funded by multiple grants from different funding agencies. Dr. Liu has co-authored 280 peer reviewed original publications and reviews in many prestigious scientific journals. His work has been cited >18,000 time with H-index 76. He has given multiple lectures at national and international meetings and more than 30 institutions in US, Europe, and China. Dr. Liu has been an editorial member of several reputable journals. He was an American Cancer Society Research Scholar. He received most prestigious Lin Qiaozhi Cup Award in 2018 by Chinese Gynecologic Society.

Robert Garfield is an American academic and scientific author with formal training in pharmacology (PhD, University of Alberta, Canada). He has collaborated globally with leading scientists and clinicians and trained many exceptional young scientists. He has held positions as full professor in Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology at McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario), University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston, Texas), St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center and Creighton University School of Medicine (Phoenix, Arizona), and recently completed four years of research and teaching at Guangzhou Women and Children’s Hospital (Guangzhou, China). Presently, presently he is a professor at the in University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Banner University Medical Center-Phoenix. Dr. Garfield’s main research focus is on control of uterine contractility during labor and delivery in pregnant patients. He has published about 400 peer-reviewed papers.

Jack D. Sobel, M.D. is Dean and Distinguished Professor of the Wayne State University School of Medicine, and Chair, Wayne State University Physician Group. Dr. Sobel is a longtime member of the School of Medicine faculty, with extensive experience in both clinical practice and medical administration. A 1965 graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in South Africa, he served as a research fellow in Infectious Diseases, Laboratory of Clinical Investigation, National Institute of Allergic and Infectious Diseases, with the National Institutes of Health, and as a fellow in Infectious Diseases at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He joined the Wayne State University School of Medicine as a professor of Internal Medicine in 1985, and was named chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases. Dr. Sobel has also served as the Associate Chair of Research in the Department of Internal Medicine before being named Chairman of Internal Medicine in 2014. He is a professor of Internal Medicine, Immunology and Microbiology, and Obstetrics and Gynecology. One of the world’s foremost authorities on bacterial vaginosis, Dr. Sobel is a widely published and strongly funded physician-researcher. He has been involved in basic science, translational and clinical research since the inception of his Infectious Diseases Research Fellowship in 1976 at the NIH Laboratory of Clinical Investigation. He has served as a consultant for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s special committee for recommending guidelines for the treatment of sexually transmitted diseases. He also served as president of the Michigan Infectious Diseases Society from 1997 to 1999, and is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the National State President’s Committee and the Infectious Diseases Society of America, Practice Guidelines Committee. He received the Golden Apple Award for best clinical teacher in 1979 and the Medical House Staff Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching in 1984 at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He was given the Distinguished Faculty Award from the Wayne State University Department of Internal Medicine in 1986 and the School of Medicine’s Teaching Award in 2004. In 2008, he received the Gershenson Distinguished Faculty Award, and in 2011 was elected to the Wayne State University Academy of Scholars. Dr. Sobel has been consistently named a Best Doctor in America since 1998, a Top Doctor since 1995, and a Super Doctor since 2011.

Linus Shao is Associate Professor at the Department of Physiology and Endocrinology, Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, The Sahlgrenska Academy at Göteborg University, Sweden. From 2014, his research focus is (1) Manipulation of uterine and placental function in a polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)-like pregnant rodent model, (2) Molecular regulation of the ovarian structure and function in PCOS-like animals, and (3) Role of the androgen/androgen receptor axis in response to PCOS-induced reproductive dysfunction. He began his scientific research fellowship at the Sahlgrenska Academy at Göteborg University in Sweden February 2005.

Nik Noor Kaussar Nik Mohd Hatta obtained her Diploma in Nursing from Taiping Nursing College in Perak and upon completion of her Diploma in 1999, she worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Ministry of Health, Malaysia. She worked as a RN in Gynaecology ward and surgical ward in Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan Kuantan, Pahang for eight years. Later, she pursued her Bachelor of Nursing Science and Master of Nursing in Orthopedic & Traumatology degrees from University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2008 and 2013. Dr. Emad Alsharu, M.D., a certified consultant in OB-GYN/IVF Gynecology and Obstetrics. He received his sub-specialty training inInfertility and Reproductive Immunology at Epsom and St. Helier Hospital, London, UK. During and shortly following his sub-specialty training, Dr. Alsharu became published in the areas of obstetrics and gynecology as well as in reproductive medicine and male infertility. He has led many OBGYN departments and chaired many IVF units at Royal Medical Services hospitals in Jordan. He is also an academic lecturer at many medical faculties in Jordan. He is the Director and Instructor of Advanced Life Support program in Jordan in Obstetrics (ALSO) in affiliation with the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). He was elected as the chairman of the scientific committee for the Jordanian Society for Fertility and Genetics (JSFG) who contributed in writing the national guidance and recommencing ART and Infertility Treatments during Covid-19 outbreak. Dr. Alsharu is the director of Health Technology Assessment Unit at Jordanian Royal Medical Services. He also works in collaboration with multi-international centers that deal with inventions and new technologies. He provides innovative ideas, assessment and amendment on advanced technologies and equipment that deal with Gynecology and Infertility problems. He is the lead of Infertility Community of Practice (Jordan Share-Net) at Higher Population Council (HPC). Dr. Alsharu is known for his vast experience in increasing the awareness level among infertile couples at national and international levels. Recently, Dr. Emad together with a group of skilled gynecologists representing Asia, Africa, Middle East and Europe managed to make and produce a short film titled “How to break silence around Infertility” aims at increasing awareness at international level around infertility and its related issues, addressing the need of fertility treatment equity, equal access to quality of infertility care, and de-stigmatization of infertility and childlessness, encouraging health policy makers to take actions against infertility issues, determining and bridging the main gaps in infertility policies, treatment programs, interventions and in the integration of infertility in the health agenda, with a focus on low and lower-middle income countries (LLMICs).

Dr. Jeffrey Johnson is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist who has joined the faculty at Wayne State University and Detroit Medical Center. He will also hold an academic appointment as Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Johnson did his medical school and residency at Boston Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts and graduated residency in 1998. He went to The Ohio State University School of Medicine and Public Health for his fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine from 1998 to 2001. He worked at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston and was director of obstetrics until 2002, and then went to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Boston where he served as director of labor and delivery until 2006. He then joined the faculty at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in 2006, providing high risk obstetrical care to the southern region of New Hampshire until 2014. Dr. Johnson was recruited to be division director of maternal-fetal medicine at SUNY Buffalo in 2014, and also medical director of the Perinatal Center of Western New York where he oversaw the provision of high risk obstetrical care for a seven county region of upstate New York and a portion of eastern Ontario Canada. In 2016, he was recruited to create a department of obstetrics and gynecology, and become chairman of that new department, at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, New Hampshire, which is a subsidiary of Massachusetts General Hospital. He brought VBAC to the only hospital in New Hampshire that was not offering this service at that time, and made that L&D unit the busiest in the seacoast area of New Hampshire and southern Maine. He was the only provider in the state of New Hampshire that offered CVS. He has published in the area of infectious diseases of pregnancy, and hypertension and pre-eclampsia. He has interest in HIV in pregnancy, having established an HIV prenatal clinic during his fellowship at Ohio State, which is still in use today. He was chosen by the Departments of Health in Massachusetts and in New York to care for pregnant patients with anthrax and Ebola during those respective outbreaks, and is certified in both. He has interest in the placenta and the development of pre-eclampsia, and clinical markers of development of this disease. His research interests include clinical studies of hypertension, the placenta, and thrombophilias. He also has a strong interest in teaching, and has won three faculty awards for resident education.

Prof. Dr. Dr. Mathias Löhnert studied at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, where he also began his specialist training as a surgeon. At the Kiel University Hospital, the gynecologist Prof. Semm developed laparoscopic surgery, which in the 1980s led to the surgery in Kiel also introducing this new minimally invasive treatment method. In this way, Prof. Löhnert was able to learn modern minimally invasive surgery during his internship. This enabled him, with a grant from the Japanese Society for Surgery, to learn new endoscopy techniques for several months at Kitasato University in Sagamihara, Japan, as one of the leading endoscopy clinics, and to bring them with him to Kiel. In November 2000, Prof. Dr. Dr. Löhnert moved to Bielefeld, where he took over the position of chief physician at the Rosenhöhe Surgical Clinic. With the increasing specialization of the clinic in minimally invasive surgery and coloproctology under Prof. Löhnert, the clinic was certified as a competence center for coloproctology and as a competence center for surgical endoscopy by the Coloproctology (CACP) and Surgical Endoscopy and Sonography (CAES) working groups German Society for Surgery. At the same time, Prof. Löhnert was appointed head of training for surgical endoscopy. As part of his scientific work, Prof. Dr. Dr. Löhnert mainly deals with the diagnosis and treatment of intestinal and rectal diseases with a special focus on incontinence therapy. The scientific results of his research led to more than 100 original papers in scientific journals and book chapters, more than 250 scientific lectures, poster exhibitions and scientific video productions. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Dr. Löhnert more than 120 advanced training lectures for doctors, patients and self-help groups. Even after moving to Bielefeld, Prof. Dr. Dr. Löhnert continues to be scientifically active and among other things leads national and international research groups on incontinence therapy.
