Professor Zhang is X.Q. Deng Presidential Chair Professor of School of Data Science in the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), Director of Center for Computer Vision in Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society, Director of CUHK(SZ)-Linklogis Joint Laboratory of CV & AI. David Zhang graduated in Computer Science from Peking University. He received his MSc in 1982 and his PhD in 1985 in both Computer Science from the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), respectively. From 1986 to 1988 he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Tsinghua University and then an Associate Professor at the Academia Sinica, Beijing. In 1994 he received his second PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. He has been a Chair Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University where he is the Founding Director of Biometrics Research Centre (UGC/CRC) supported by the Hong Kong SAR Government since 2005. Currently he is Presidential Chair Professor in Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen). He also serves as Visiting Chair Professor in Tsinghua University and HIT, and Adjunct Professor in Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Peking University, National University of Defense Technology and the University of Waterloo. He is both Founder and Editor-in-Chief, International Journal of Image & Graphics (IJIG) (http://www.worldscinet.com/ijig/ijig.shtml) and Springer International Series on Biometrics (KISB) (http://www.springer.com/series/6191); Organizer, the first International Conference on Biometrics Authentication (ICBA); and Associate Editor of more than ten international journals including IEEE Transactions and so on. Over past 40 years, he have been working on pattern recognition, image processing and biometrics, where many research results have been awarded and some created directions, including palmprint recognition, computerized TCM and facial beauty analysis, are famous in the world. So far, he has published over 20 monographs, 500 international journal papers and 40 patents from USA/Japan/China. From 2014 to 2021, he has been continuously listed as a Highly Cited Researchers in Engineering by Clarivate Analytics (formerly known as Thomson Reuters) (http://highlycited.com). He is ranked 85 with H-Index 120 at Top 1,000 Scientists for international Computer Science and Electronics in 2021 (http://www.guide2research.com/scientists). Professor Zhang is also an Distinguished Speaker of the IEEE Computer Society, and an IEEE Life Fellow and an IAPR Fellow. Professor Zhang is selected as a Fellow of both the Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Engineering.

Carol D. Ryff is Director of the Institute on Aging and HilldaleProfessor of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For the past two decades,Dr. Ryff has been Principal Investigator of the MIDUS (Midlife in the U.S.) national longitudinal study, whose rich multidisciplinary data have engaged researchers around the world, with 1,800+ publications appearing in top tier journals across scientific fields. She also directed MIDJA (Midlife in Japan), for which she received an NIH Merit Award. A major objective of these studies is biopsychosocial integration – i.e., understanding pathways to health or illness via linkage of sociodemographic factors (age, gender, race, socioeconomic status) with behavioral, psychological, and social factors, including stress exposures and contextual influences. Extensive emphasis is also given to physiological and neurological mechanisms that link these differing influences to morbidity and mortality. Her own research focuses on a model of psychological well-beingshe developed in 1989, which is usedwidely used in diverse investigations. Her measures of well-being have been translated to 40 languages. Dr. Ryffown work focuses on howpsychological well-being changes with age, how it is contoured by educational status and cultural context as well as by the challenges and transitions of adult life. Whether well-being is protective of good physical health is a major interest, with numerous findings linking different aspects of well-being to morbidity and mortality, via diverse biomarkers (neuroendocrine, immune, cardiovascular) and neural circuitry. A guiding theme is resilience – how some are able to maintain, or regain, well-being in the face of adversity and what neurobiology underlies this capacity.Increasingly, she is interested in how the arts and humanities as well as encounters with nature matter for well-being and health.

Raffaele Pilla, Pharm.D., Ph.D., Doctor Europaeus, received his Master’s degree in Pharmacy at G. d’Annunzio University in Chieti-Pescara, Italy in 2005, where he also served internships at the Cell Physiology Laboratory and Molecular Biology Laboratory. Prior, he was an Erasmus Student at Faculté de Pharmacie de Reims in Reims, France. He received his Doctor Europaeus in 2010 from Pitié-Salpétrière Institute in Paris, France. Also in 2010, he received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Physiology, and Pathology of Muscle at G. d’Annunzio University in Chieti-Pescara, Italy. He was hired as a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, on two research grants funded by the Office of Naval Research (US Navy) and Divers’ Alert Network. Dr. Tan Suat Cheng obtained her B. Sc. (honours) in Biotechnology at School of Science and Technology, Universiti Malaysia Sabah with First Class Honour and was selected as the only recipient of Royal Academic Award (non-indigenous category) of the year 2007. In 2008, she obtained full scholarship from Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia to pursue her PhD at Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetic (DPAG), University of Oxford. Upon graduation in 2011, she was appointed as Senior Lecturer of Biomedicine in Universiti Sains Malaysia. Dr. Tan received several academic recognitions/awards including selected as Malaysian Fellow for 47th Asia Pacific Advanced Network Meeting in Daejoen, South Korea; selected as Malaysian Young Scientist Representative for 68th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings in Lindau, Germany; appointed by Academic Science of Malaysia (ASM) as the Exco Member of Young Scientist Network-ASM; Travel award from International Society of Heart Research in 2010; Student award from Green Templeton College, University of Oxford in 2010; Competitive bursary from both British Society for Cardiovascular Research and Oxford Stem Cell Institute in 2011 and so on. Further, she also obtained seven research grants from Universiti Sains Malaysia and Ministry of Higher Education between years 2012 to 2022. Currently, she is pioneering a Neural Stem Cell Research Group in School of Health Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Her current research focuses on developing a reliable stem cell-based therapeutic technique to treat human neurological disorders such as stroke.

Professor Hu is got PhD from the University of Manchester, is a world-renowned expert in smart materials for textiles, wearables and biomedical applications, a top 2% world's most highly cited scientists by Stanford University with actual ranking of top 0.097%, 278among285331 material scientists with an overall rank of 24313 among around 10m scientists worldwide. She joined in City University of Hong Kong in 2020 and she is the Professor of Department of Biomedical Engineering. Basma Najar is a post-doc researcher at the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Agro-Environment sciences of the University of Pisa. Basma completed her Ph.D. at the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Pisa and her undergraduate studies at the University of Tunisia. Her research interest phytochemical analyses of secondary metabolites of aromatic, medicinal, and food plant species. Basma has learned and applied both qualitative and quantitative methodologies: GC-MS, HPLC as well as statistical analyses. During his Ph.D. she spent six months at the University of Malta at the department of Biology under the supervisor of Professor Joseph Buhagiar where she deepened her knowledge in the cell culture, especially the cancer cell lines. She has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines, particularly veterinary science. Being original from Tunisia allowed her to be bi-lingual and speak both Arabic and French as a mother tongue. Having moved to the other side of the Mediterranean Sea helped her to learn the Italian language and of course, English which was the language of study during the Ph.D. Basma serves as guest editor in the Plant Journal and is one of the reviewer editorial boards in Frontiers journal in plant science as well as editorial board in Natural Resources for Human Health and in Medicon Agriculture & Environmental Sciences.

Dr. Leilani Alvarez is the Director of the Tina Santi Flaherty Rehabilitation & Fitness Service and head of our Integrative and Rehabilitative Medicine Department. Dr. Alvarez is one of few specialists worldwide that is board certified in canine sports medicine and rehabilitation. She has been practicing rehabilitation medicine for over a decade. Her advanced training specializes her skills in diagnosis and treatment of soft tissue injuries such as joint injuries, ligament and tendon tears, and spinal injuries.
