Yoshikazu Ohya is currently a professor in the Department of Integrated Biosciences, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences at the University of Tokyo. He had studied molecular biology of the budding yeast S. cerevisiae since 1982. He has also developed an image processing system CalMorph specialized for yeast and has conducted leading research on bioimaging field. CalMorph is a system that analyzes the yeast cell morphology with a fluorescence microscopic images after staining the cell wall, actin cytoskeleton, and nuclear DNA of yeast cells. By applying basic machine learning technique with statistical model, it is possible to precisely analyze the yeast morphology. In general, his research group aims to study morphological phenotyping of the budding yeast from the viewpoints of system biology, genetics, cell biology, biotechnology and drug discovery. He has recently developed a high-throughput platform for yeast morphological profiling to predict drug target. Several anti-fungal agents have been investigated with this system.

Dr. Stefania Costa graduated in Medical-Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Ferrara in 2009, and subsequently obtained the title of PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2014 at the same University. Since 2010 she has been a research fellow at the Department of Life Sciences and Biotechnology of the University of Ferrara in the scientific disciplinary sector CHIM / 11. To date, she is a lecturer in the Chemistry of Fermentation of the Degree in Biotechnology at the University of Ferrara. Her research activity is focused in the field of fermentation and biotransformations using whole cells or enzymes. She also deals with the development of NIR applications in the agro-food field aimed at industrial application.

Graduated with honors from the Faculty of Biology (2010, qualification - microbiologist) and the Faculty of Pedagogical Education (2012, qualification - instructor of the institution on higher education) of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia. Associate professor of the Faculty of Biology and associate professor of the Faculty of Biotechnology, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty of Biology, Moscow State University, scientific leader of the group for the study of targeted proteinases formed by micromycetes (2014-present). He systematically teaches at three faculties of Moscow State University - biological, biotechnological, bioengineering and bioinformatics, holds individual lectures at the Faculty of Chemistry of Moscow State University.

Prof. Dutz received his Diploma Engineer (Dipl.-Ing) in Biomedical Engineering from University of Applied Sciences in Jena/Germany in 2002 and his PhD (Dr.-Ing) from University of Freiberg/Germany in 2007. Prof Dutz is the Chair of Magnetic Nanoparticles Group at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics at Technische Universität Ilmenau in Germany. With a background in Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, and Electronics his current research interests focus on synthesis, characterization, and application of magnetic nanoparticles for medical applications as well as instrumentation for these techniques, especially magnetic hyperthermia, magnetic drug targeting, and magnetic particle imaging.

Francesca Cordella is Assistant Professor at the Unit of Advanced Robotics and Human-centred Technologies - Creo Lab at Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome. She received the Laurea degree in Electronic Engineering and the Ph.D. in Computer and Automation Engineering both from the University of Naples Federico II. In 2011, she was visiting student at the Institut fur Robotik und Mechatronik, Deutsche Zentrum fur Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR). Until June 2013 she has been Assistant Researcher at the University of Naples Federico II. From 2013 to 2018 she was Assistant Researcher and from November 2018 she is Assistant Professor both in the Creo Lab at Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome. Her research interests are mainly in the field of biomechanics, biomedical robotics and human-machine interfaces. She is member of the Technical Program Committee and associate editor for several International Conferences and Workshops. She is guest Editor of several journals and Associate editor for the journal Applied Bionics and Biomechanics. Since 2015 she is an expert and reviewer for the European Commission within H2020- ICT research program. She has been involved in several EU-funded and national projects in her fields of interest. She was/is Work Package scientific responsible for several European and National projects in her application fields. She was Project Manager for the National Project RehabRobo@Work “Bio-cooperative robotic system for upper-limb rehabilitation in working environments” and co-PI of the national projects PPR AS 1/3 “Implantable system for the control of upper limb prostheses with invasive neural interfaces and wireless communication” She is co-PI of the National project WiFi Myo-Hand “Optimized implantable system for interfacing with the peripheral nervous system and the control of upper limb prostheses”. She has authored/coauthored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications appeared in international journals, books and conference proceedings.

Dr. Pham Xuan Phu is currently lecturer and researcher of Rural Development and Natural Resources Management Department, Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources, An Giang University, a member of Ho Chi Minh City National University, Viet Nam. He has more than sixteen years’ experience in teaching in researching. He has strong background in the fields of integrated rural development and agriculture. He has published several papers in international journal and local newspapers. My research is interesting about indigenous knowledge, vulnerable livelihoods,farming systems, migration, agro-ecosytems, social learning on indigenous knowledge farmers adaptive capacity, social resilience to flooding, adatation to climate change. Besides, he performs as livelihood and climate change policy advisor for Oxfam, VRN, Green IDEA, RDViet and WARECOD to undertake research and development activities in the fields of livelihood, natural resources management , water, energy and climate resilience components.

Kathleen Hefferon received her PhD from the Department of Medical Biophysics, University of Toronto and currently teaches microbiology at Cornell University. Kathleen has published multiple research papers, chapters and reviews, and has written three books. Kathleen is the Fulbright Canada Research Chair of Global Food Security and has been a visiting professor at the University of Toronto over the past year. Her research interests include the use of biotechnology to promote global health. Kathleen lives in New York with her husband and two children.

Dirk Tischler is Professor for Microbial Biotechnology at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB). He finished his doctoral studies under the supervision of Prof. Schlömann at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg (TUBAF) in 2012. From 2012 to 2020 he was heading several junior research groups in the field of White Biotechnology at TUBAF and RUB. In 2018 he became Juniorprofessor for Microbial Biotechnology at RUB and turned to Professor status at RUB in December 2019. His present research is focused on studying de novo annotation of flavoproteins and other oxidoreductases from (meta)genomes for biocatalysis. This work is mostly done with Actinobacteria such as Rhodococcus and Gordonia.

My area of work is related to the use of the concept of digital agriculture as a basic tool for decision-making in agricultural systems, adaptations and mitigations to climate variability and climatic change, risk analysis, use of information and communication technologies, remote sensing, data science, and epidemiology.

Peter Horvath (1980) is the director of the Institute of Biochemistry and the group leader of BIOMAG (Biological Image Analysis and Machine Learning Group) at the Biological Research Centre (BRC) in Hungary, a Finland Distinguished Professor Fellow at University of Helsinki (FIMM), and the director of FIMM-HCA a high-content screening facility in Helsinki. He has 11 years of experience in image analysis and machine learning gained at ETH Zürich and INRIA Sophia Antipolis (Ph.D. 2008). His groups find computational solutions to biological problems, combining wet-lab and light microscopy with image analysis and machine learning. He has developed novel pipelines for high content microscopy, which have identified genes with essential roles in cancer, bacterial infections, viral infections, and diabetes. Results have been published in high-impact journals (50+ peer-reviewed publications total impact factor: 420) such as Science, Cell, Nature Methods, PNAS, Pattern Recognition, PLoS Pathogens, PLoS Biology, Cell H&M, EMBO Journal. He is regularly reviewing bioimage informatics articles in major journals, organizing conferences and summer schools, and invited speaker in conferences. He is the Co-founder of the European Cell-based Assays Interest Group (www.eucai.org), and the Councilor of the Society of Biomolecular Imaging and Informatics (www.sbi2.org).

Peter E. Nielsen is full professor at University of Copenhagen, Denmark since 1995. He is one of the inventors of peptide nucleic acid (PNA) (1991), and has further studied and developed this DNA mimic during the last 25 years in relation to chemistry, origin of life, molecular biology and drug discovery. He is the co-author of more than 400 scientific papers, reviews and books. He is a member of EMBO and the Danish Academy of Technical Sciences, and he has received several national and international scientific prizes including the Novo Nordic Foundation and the Lundbeck prizes

Prof. Hesham Ali El Enshasy is the current Director of Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD), and professor in bioprocess engineering, school of Chemical and Energy Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Prof. El Enshasy is one of the top 2% researcher in the world in the field of Biotechnology, according Stanford University research study in 2020. He was the Chair for Food Division 15A (2016-2017) AIChE, and the current co-Chair for Food, Pharmaceutical& Bio-Engineering Division, Division 15A (Food), American Institute of Chemical Engineering (AIChE). Before joining UTM, he was the assistant director of City for Scientific Research and Technology Applications for Research Institutes Affairs (Alexandria, Egypt). Prof. El Enshasy received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Microbiology (Ain Shams University, Egypt), Dr. rer. Nat. in Industrial Biotechnology (TU Braunschweig, Germany 1998), M.Sc. Technology Management (UTM, Malaysia). Post Doc. Faculty of Chemical Engineering, The Ohio State Univ. (USA) and GBF, (Germany). He is also visiting guest professor and honor guest professor to many world class universities in USA, Germany, China, Sweden, Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Greece, and Algeria. He established many research and industrial platforms for the industrial production of different bioactive metabolites using microbial, mammalian and plant cells in many universities, research institutes and companies. He is active as editorial board member in many scientific journal and he is currently the Editor-in-Chief for Bioscience Biotechnology Research Asia (BBRA). He is also the current editor of book series Industrial Biotechnology (CRC Press, USA).

Sekena Hassanien Abdel-Aziem Hassanien is Research scientist in the Animal Biotechnology Department at National Research Centre (Cairo, Egypt) since 1989 (Permanent staff from 1989). She graduated in Biotechnology in 1999 and obtained her PhD in Animal Biology at the University of Zagazig in 1999. She has wide experience in Animal biotechnology, functional genomics and molecular biology. Particular interest is on molecular biology for farm animals, mainly camels, buffalos . Her research activity is mainly focused genotoxicty. She has published over 75 articles in scientific international journals with peer reviewing and she is associate editor of various scientific journals in the field of genotoxicity. She has participated/is participating in several national and STDF-funded projects, and is currently PI of the project " Genetic biodiversity and phylogeny of camel breeds reared in Egypt " approved by STDF (Science and Technology Development Fund. in Egypt).

Laura Quintas-Granados is a research professor in the Universidad Mexiquense del Bicentenario (UMB) in Mexico. She has been a technology transfer consultant with experience in the Technology Transfer Office of Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (Cinvestav). She received her PhD from the Department of Biotechnology and Bioengineering of the Cinvestav. She is a fellow of National System of Researchers, a governmental agency established to promote quantity and quality of research in Mexico. She has published multiple research articles, reviews, and book chapters. Her main research fields are related to applied biotechnology. Currently, she supervised several MSc and undergraduate students at UMB.

Isabel Belo is graduated in Chemical Engineering from University of Porto, and Doctor in Chemical and Biological Engineering from University of Minho, Braga, Portugal. She is Assistant Professor at the Biological Engineering Department of Engineering School of University of Minho. She has been Director of Bioengineering Master and of Doctoral Program in Chemical and Biological Engineering of University of Minho for several years. Her main research activities are related to Bioprocess Engineering, particularly bioprocesses development and optimization and fermentation technologies, with emphasis in bioreactors and in valorization of low-cost feedstocks by yeasts and filamentous fungi. Isabel Belo supervised several Post-Doc researchers, PhD and MSc students. She participated and coordinated several scientific projects with external financial support. She has published over 80 articles in scientific international journals with peer reviewing and she is associate editor of scientific journals. She is member of national boards of the European Biotechnology Thematic Network.

Lindomar Alberto Lerin received his D.Sc in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2010) shortly after graduating in Biological Sciences from the Integrated Regional University of Alto Uruguai and Missões (2006). His post-doctorate activities took place at the Integrated Regional University of Alto Uruguai and Missões, at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, and at the University of Ferrara. He was Substitute Professor at the Federal University of Fronteira Sul and currently has been approved for a position as Research fellow at the University of Ferrara - Italy (which is scheduled to start in January 2021). His works deal with Biotechnological Processes, mainly in the optimization of enzymatic processes, with the development of enzymatic biocatalysis for the synthesis of bioproducts, in particular lipases esterification, as well with fermentation bioprocesses using agro-industrial waste, with the application of extraction techniques of natural compounds from plant matrices, and with the application of new methodologies for the control of microorganisms in food products. His CV lists over 60 published scientific articles with more than 720 citations.

César de la Fuente, Ph.D. is a Presidential Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, where he is leading the Machine Biology Group to integrate synthetic biology, microbiology, and AI. Prof. de la Fuente seeks to expand nature’s repertoire to build novel synthetic molecular tools and devise therapies that nature has not previously discovered. The Machine Biology Group aims to develop computer-made tools and medicines that will replenish our current antibiotic arsenal and to build novel inexpensive diagnostic technologies for infectious diseases. De la Fuente is an NIH MIRA investigator, a BBRF Young Investigator, and has received recognition and research funding from numerous other groups. Prof. de la Fuente was recognized by MIT Technology Review in 2019 as one of the world’s top innovators for “digitizing evolution to make better antibiotics”. He was selected as the inaugural recipient of the Langer Prize (2019), an ACS Kavli Emerging Leader in Chemistry (2020), the Nemirovsky Prize (2020), AIChE’s 35 Under 35 Award (2020), and received the ACS Infectious Diseases Young Investigator Award (2020). In addition, he was named a Boston Latino 30 Under 30, a 2018 Wunderkind by STAT News, a Top 10 Under 40 of 2019 by GEN, a Top 10 MIT Technology Review Innovator Under 35 (Spain), 30 Rising Leaders in the Life Sciences by In Vivo magazine, and he received the 2019 Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Young Investigator Award. His scientific discoveries have yielded over 80 peer-reviewed publications, including papers in Nature Communications, PNAS, Nature Communications Biology, and multiple patents.

Dalibor Huska, Principal investigator Laboratory of plant metabolomics and epigenetics, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of MENDELU. Huska’s expertise focuses on the secondary metabolites of plants and microalgae and its interaction with nanomaterials. He has, an Engineering degree in Plant Biotechnology (2009), and a Ph.D. in Plant Anatomy and Physiology (2012). He has held visiting scientist at the University of East Anglia and The John Innes Centre; Department of Metabolic Biology, Norwich (United Kingdom). From 2012-2016, he worked at the Department of Molecular Epigenetics, Institute of Biophysics, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. Since establishing his lab at Mendel University, Dr Huska has been participating in many projects funded by the Czech´s foundation and European Union aimed at plant and microalgae. He has authored 63 original scientific papers in ISI-indexed journals.

Chiara Lauritano is Research scientist in the Marine Biotechnology Department at Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn (Napoli, Italy) since 2013 (Permanent staff from 2018). She graduated in Biotechnology in 2008 and obtained her PhD in Animal Biology at the University of Calabria in 2011. She has wide experience in marine biotechnology, functional genomics and plankton ecology. Particular interest is on bioprospecting for marine organisms, mainly microalgae. Her research activity is mainly focused on drug discovery from marine organisms and transcriptomic analyses in order to identify sequences encoding proteins with industrial applicability. She has published over 50 articles in scientific international journals with peer reviewing and she is associate editor of various scientific journals in the field of marine biology and biotechnology. She has participated/is participating in several national and EU-funded projects, and is currently PI of the project PERTREAT "Peptides and Enzymes from cold-adapted microorganisms foR melanoma and leukemia TREATment" approved by PNRA (National Programme of Research in Antarctica).

Maria Alice Zarur Coelho is graduated in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and doctor in Chemical Engineering from COPPE / Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1998), she is currently Full Professor at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Director of Graduate Studies and Research at the School of Chemistry, CNPq Researcher and Scientist of Our State by FAPERJ. She has experience in the area of Chemical Engineering, with an emphasis on digital image processing applied to biological systems, bioprocesses catalyzed by yeasts, in particular Yarrowia lipolytica, enzymatic biocatalysis and valorisation of agro-industrial waste, coordinating projects with development agencies and companies from different industrial sectors. Her CV lists over 100 published scientific articles and international cooperation projects with Portugal, Spain, India, Belgium and France. In November / 2019, in partnership with PETROBRAS, she received the ANP Award for Technological Innovation in the environmental area, with the title Green technologies for the recycling of polymers in the oil industry: transforming waste into valuable raw materials for the chain productive.

Dr. Karlen O. Hovnanyan, Dr. Sc., M.D., Senior Researcher of the Technological Center of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of the Republic of Armenia (RA), doctorant of Department of Anatomy of Pathogen Microorganisms of the Hamaleya Institute of Microbiology and Epidemiology of RAMS of USSR, Moscow. Since 1968 till 1998 - Head of Laboratory of Electron Microscopy in the Institute of Epidemiology, Virology and Parasitology of Health Ministry of Armenia. Since 1998 till 2016 - Head of Laboratory of Electron Microscopy of the Institute of Molecular Biology, NAS RA. Presently - President of Armenian Electron Microscopy Society (AEMS), full member of the IFSM and EMS. 1997, academician of Russian NAS,1999, 2000, 2001, 2003 - Editorial Chief of International Conferences of AEMS, etc. He has more than 220 publications. Honor of Rudolf Virchow Medal of European Academy of Natural Sciences, Medals "The Excellent of Health" and ”The Veteran of Labour”.

Dr. Alexandra Castilho graduated in 1990 from Lisbon University (Portugal) in Applied Plant Biology. She was young science researcher (Erasmus student) at the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA, Versailles, France) and later at the Agricultural School, (ISA, Portugal). In 1996, Dr. Alexandra Castilho earned her PhD degree from the University of East Anglia at John Innes Institute in Norwich (UK), working on Molecular Cytogenetics and Plant Breeding. In 2000, she moved back to Portugal and joined the Instituto de Technologia Química e Biológica (ITQB, Portugal) as a senior post-Doc. In 2004, she moved to the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna, Austria. She become the scientific coordinator of the Laura Bassi Center of Expertise- PlantBioP aiming on Plant-Produced Glycan-Optimized Biopharmaceuticals. In 2018, Dr. Alexandra Castilho established an independent research group at the Department of Applied Genetics and Cell Biology from BOKU. Her research is centered on both fundamental and applied thematic lines. One key action is underlying the molecular and cellular processes involved in the production of Glycan-optimized recombinant proteins. Another, in cooperation with world leading Pharma and Biotech industries, is to develop strategies enabling the synthesis of recombinant proteins with tailored homogenous glycosylation and to identify those glycoforms that better suit or improve the efficacy of the product and thus suitable for pharmaceutical and diagnostic applications.

Everaldo Silvino dos Santos awarded his undergraduate course in Chemical Engineering by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte-UFRN (1994) in Natal (Brazil), his MSc. (1997) and DSc. (2001) also in Chemical Engineering by State University of Campinas (Campinas, Brazil). He was a researcher visiting at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT/USA) in 2014 working at Prof. Kristala L. J. Prather group. Currently, he is a Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at UFRN. Additionally, he has published more than 100 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of many journals in the field of Biochemical and Chemical Engineering.

Dr. UĞUR ÇAKILCIOĞLU is working as associate professor in department of food and technology, Pertek Sakine Genç Vocational School under Munzur University, Turkey. He took his doctorate from Firat University Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Biology in 2007. He have many studies on systematic botanic, ethnobotany, morphology, anatomy, rare and endemic plants, medicinal plant, antioxidant activities of plants, DPPH and ABTS radical removal activities of plants, plant essential oils, nitrate contents of plants, plant production strategies and the diseases infecting from soil. He worked in many international journals in order to follow the international innovations in the field of plants.
