Shizhang Qiao is a Chair Professor at the School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials of the University of Adelaide (UoA). His research expertise is in nanomaterials for new energy technologies (electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, batteries). He has co-authored more than 430 papers in refereed journals with 56,900 citations and h-index of 123, Web of Sci). In recognition of his achievements in research, he was honoured with inaugural UoA Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Research (2019), prestigious ARC Australian Laureate Fellow (2017), ExxonMobil Award (2016), ARC Discovery Outstanding Researcher Award (DORA, 2013), Emerging Researcher Award (2013, ENFL Division of the American Chemical Society) and UQ Foundation Research Excellence Award (2008). Dr Qiao is a Thomson Reuters/Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher in two categories of Chemistry and Materials Science (108 ESI 1% highly cited papers).

Hiroaki Sasai graduated from Keio University in 1980 and received his doctor degree in 1985 from Keio University. After working as a researcher at Sagami Chemical Research Center for three years, he joined Prof. Shibasaki’s group at Hokkaido University as an assistant professor. In 1992, he moved to the University of Tokyo (lecturer and then associate professor), and in 1997 he was appointed as a full professor of the Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research (Sanken), Osaka University. He is a recipient of 1995 Pharmaceutical Society of Japan Award for Young Scientists and the Fluka Prize "Reagent of the Year 1996". He received The Chemical Society of Japan Award for Creative Work and Ichimura Science Award in 2006, the Molecular Chirality Award in 2011, and Synthetic Organic Chemistry Award in 2016.In 2018 he received Prizes for Science and Technology from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan.

Michael J. Aziz has been a Faculty member since 1986 of what is now the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, where he is currently the Gene and Tracy Sykes Professor of Materials and Energy Technologies and Area Chair of Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering. His recent research interests include novel materials and processes for electrical energy storage and CO2 capture and sequestration. He is co-inventor of the organic aqueous flow battery and directs multi-investigator research programs on stationary electrical energy storage. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, the Materials Research Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science and is the co-recipient of the 2019 Energy Frontiers Prize from Eni. He was the faculty coordinator for the Harvard University Graduate Consortium on Energy and Environment from 2009 to 2019, for which he developed a quantitative course on energy technology for a group of students in diverse disciplines. He is currently authoring a textbook, “A First Course on Energy Technology: Depletable and Renewable Resources, Interconversion, and End Usage”.

JieshanQiu is a Cheung-Kong Distinguished Professor of Carbon Science and Chemical Engineering at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), and Dean of Chemical Engineering Collegeat BUCT. He is an internationally-recognized research and thought leader in chemical engineering and carbon science. His research encompasses both fundamental and applied aspects of carbon materials and science, with a focus on the methodologies of producing carbon materials for energy storage and conversion, catalysis and environment protection. He has published 700+ papers in peer-reviewed journals, including Nature Mater., Adv. Mater., Adv. Funct. Mater., Adv. Energy Mater., Energy Environ. Sci., PNAS, Nature Commun., Nano Energy, ACS Nano, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Chem. Soc. Rev., J. Am. Chem. He is a Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Researcher in 2018 and 2019, and 2019 Elsevier Highly Cited Researcher in the field of chemical engineering in China. He has served as Associate Editor of three international journals for years, including: Carbon, FlatChem and ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering.

Jacob A Moulijnis emeritus professor of Chemical Engineering at the Delft University of Technology (1990-2007) and the University of Amsterdam (1986-1990). He was Distinguished Research Professor at the Cardiff University (2007-2018), visiting professor at several universities, including Zhejiang Normal University, China, University of Delaware, USA, University of Gent, Belgium, University of Mumbai, India and the National University of Singapore. He is the founder/director of a consultancy company. He was co-founder and first director R&D of a start-up company in biomass conversion (2010-2012). In addition, he was co-founder of Delft-IMP, aiming at scaling-up Atomic-Layer-Deposition technology for the production of coated powders. His research interests include catalysis engineering, structured (in particular, multiphase monolithic) reactors, zeolite membranes, Process Intensification, petroleum conversion (hydrotreating, FCC, Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis), environmental catalysis (diesel soot abatement, NOx and N2O abatement, H2S removal, CFC conversion), selective hydrogenation, photo- and electrocatalysis , coal conversion ((catalytic) gasification, pyrolysis, combustion), biomass conversion (liquefaction, chemicals production) and Atomic Layer Deposition. He has supervised over 300 master and 70 PhD students. He is (co-) author of 750 technical papers (number of citations: 40.000; Hirsch-index:104) and two books, and he holds several patents (reactor design, zeolitic membranes, catalyst development, biomass conversion). He receivedthe BP Energy Price (1982), anhonorarydoctorate of ÅboUniversity, Finland (2005) and the NWO-STW ‘Simon Stevin Meesterschap’ award (2000).

Jinlong Zhang studied at East China University of Science and Technology(ECUST), where he received a PhD in Fine Chemicals in 1993. In 1996 he received the Award of the JSPS and then studied in Osaka Prefecture University, Japan, as a postdoctoral. He became a full professor in 2000. He was selected as the Member of Academia Europaea and Distinguished Professor of Huixian in ECUST in 2019. He has published over then 450 original papers in “Nat. Comm.; Chem. Rev.; J. Am. Chem. Soc.; Angew Chem Int Ed et al , which were cited more than 26000 times (H-index: 85), serves on the editor of Research on Chemical Intermediates and the editorial boards of several international journals, for example, “Scientific Reports”, ‘‘Applied Catalysis B: Enviromental’’, and ‘‘Photographic Science and Photochemistry’’. His research interests include photocatalysis, environmental science and materials science. He has been selected as the “Most Cited Chinese Researchers” in China by “Elsevier” in 2014 to 2019. Dr. Jinlong Zhang also was awarded as "Highly Cited Scientists" by Clarivate Analytics in 2018.

Following a Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry at Bar-Ilan University in 1988, Zeev Gross moved to Princeton University for two years as a Fulbright postdoctoral fellow, during which he exploredmetalloporphyrin chemistry with J.T. Groves as mentor. In 1990 he accepted a position at the Technion, where he is currently Professor of Chemistry and the incumbent of the Blum academic chair. On top of research and teaching, he is heading multiple youth outreach activities in chemistry, has initiated the international graduate program in Chemistry at his institute and for the last 6 years he also serves as the dean of the division for continuing & external studies with about 4,000 students annually. Since his 1999 discovery of the first facile synthesis of controls, the focus of his research is on uncovering unique features of metallocorroles and their utilization in applications that of prime importance for modern society:discovering new drugs and designing optimal photo- and electro-catalysts for energy- and environment-relevant processes.He has published more than 200 papers in leading journals on these research efforts, 33 of which were cited more than 100 times, and his current web-of-science h index is 60. He was a Moore Distinguished Scholar in Caltech in 2013, received the Israel Chemical Society Award for the Outstanding Scientist in 2014, and the Hans Fischer Career Award in 2018.He hasstrong ties with South California that include scientific collaborations with researchers from the Cedar Sinai hospital, City of Hope, Caltech, and three 6 months periodic sabbaticals. He is a popular invitee to international conferences and that includes an extensive lecture tour in Japan when he received the Invitational Fellowship for Research in Japan (JSPS) in 2018.

Itamar Willner is a Professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. His research interests include bionanoscience, DNA nanotechnology, biomimetic systems, catalysis, biocatalysis, photocatalysis, stimuli-responsive materials and drug delivery systems, energy conversion by artificial photosynthetic systems and biofuel cells. He received many awards including the Max-Planck Research Award for International Cooperation, The Israel Chemical Society Award, The Israel Prize in Chemistry, The Rothschild Prize, the EMET Prize and the Gold Medal of the Israel Chemical Society. He coauthored over 800 research papers, and was listed by Thompson Reuters/Clarivateas a Highly Cited Researcher andamong the World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds (2014-2019). He has over 70,000 citations and has an h-index of 138 (Web of Science), 155 (Google Scholars). He is a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and of the German National Academy of Sciences – Leopoldina. Masakazu Anpo is presently a Special Honor Professor & International Advisor, Fuzhou University in P. R. China after the retirement of Osaka Prefecture University (at the end of March in 2015) where he worked for 40 years and served as Dean of Graduate School of Engineering, Vice President and Executive Director, the Director of the R&D Center for Plant Factory, etc. and Advisor to President for last 10 years. He is a pioneer in the research of photochemical reactions on solid surfaces (Heterogeneous Photochemistry) including catalysts and has published the first book in this field, “Photocatalysis” in 1988 from Asakura-shoten in Tokyo and “Photochemistry on Solid Surfaces” in 1989 from Elsevier. He published many important and instructive books such as “Environmentally Benign Photocatalysts” in 2010, “Plant Factory Using Artificial Light” in 2018 from Elsevier, “Chemistry of Silica and Zeolite-based Materials” in 2019 from Elsevier. Until today, he has published more than 115 scientific books including a recent new book entitled “Current Developments in Photocatalysis and Photocatalytic Materials” in 2020 from Elsevier with Profs. Xinchen Wang and Xianzhi Fu of Fuzhou University. Prof. Anpo has published over 549 original peer-reviewed papers in English, being cited more than 45,000 times. His dream is the establishment of “Solar Chemistry” as a new sustainable environmentally-friendly science and technology. Currently, he has an interest in the hybridization of artificial photosynthesis (photocatalysis) and natural photosynthesis, which leads to an efficient production of clean H2 from water involving wasted biomasses while production of safe and reliable vegetables by utilization of sunlight effectively.

Richard is Head of the Nanomaterials Lab, College of Engineering at Swansea, his hometown; also Professor, School of Physics, Nanjing University, China. His research on atomic clusters includes fundamental studies of atomic structure and dynamics as well as scale-up. Other well-established research topics include atomic manipulation in STM and semiconductor nanofabrication. He was awarded an MA and PhD at Cambridge where he also held 1851, Clare College and Royal Society Fellowships. At Birmingham he founded the UK's first centre for nanoscience. Jianping Xie is currently a Dean’s Chair Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He received his BS and MS in Chemical Engineering from Tsinghua University, China, and his Ph.D. from the Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA) program. Dr. Xie joined NUS in 2010 and established the Noble Metal Nanoclusters research group. His group is known for the work on engineering water-soluble metal nanoclusters for biomedical and catalyticapplications. Dr. Xie has 180+ publications, 18800+ citations, and an H-index of 72. His research interests include noble metal nanoclusters, nanomedicine, and nanocatalysis.Dr.Xie’s recent research award includes Highly Cited Researcher in Chemistry 2018& 2019 (by Clarivate Analytics).Dr. Xie is a Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).

Hyoyoung Lee received his B.S. and M.S. degree in Chemistry at Kyung Hee University, Korea in 1989 and 1991, respectively, and he received his Ph.D. degree at Department of Chemistry, University of Mississippi in 1997. He did his postdoctoral associate at North Carolina State University, USA, from 1997 to 1999 and POSTECH, Korea, from 1999 to 2000. He worked at Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) from 2000 to 2009 as team leader. He moved to Sungkyunkwan University and has served as a full professor at dept. of chemistry, lecturing organic chemistry. He served as a director of National Creative Research Initiatives (NCRI), Center of Smart Molecular Memory from 2006 to Feb., 2015. Currently, he has served as an associate director of Centre for Integrated Nanostructure Physics (CINAP), Institute of Basic Science (IBS) from November 2015. His current research area is an organic and inorganic semiconducting materials and devices including metal oxides including TiO2 and ceria, energy conversion and storage, molecular/organic memory, OLED, OTFT, sensors, and 2D transition metal chalcogenide (TMC). He has written more than 150 journal articles with top-tier journals. He is member of Korean chemical society (KCS), Materials Research Society (MRS) and American chemical Society (ACS).

Jagadeesh Rajenahally currently is a Group Leader for synergy between homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis at Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT), Rostock Germany. He wasbornand raised in Karnataka, India. He obtained MSc and PhDin Chemistryfrom Bangalore University, India. After having performed Postdoctoral Research at the University of Florida, USA for two years andworked for a few monthsas Assistant Professor at VIT University, Indiahe joinedLeibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT), Germany in the year 2010,where he currently is a Group Leader.His research group works on catalysis for sustainable organic synthesis related to essential fine and bulk chemicals,and molecules applied in life science as well as valorization of renewable resources/feedstocks.

Ipsita Roy is an expert in microbial biotechnology, natural biomaterials and their biomedical applications. She joined the Department of Material Science and Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, at the University of Sheffield as Professor of Biomaterials in September 2019. Previously she wasProfessor at the School of Life Sciences, University of Westminster, London. She is also Visiting Professor at NHLI, Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London. Ipsita was awarded the prestigious Inlaks Scholarship and the Overseas Research Students Award to study forher Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge. During her time at Cambridge she was awarded the Churchill College Scholarship, the Lundgren Scholarship, Leche Trust Scholarship and the Cambridge University Philosophical Society Fellowship Award. Her PhD at the Department of Biochemistry was on a B12-dependent enzyme, methylmalonyl-CoA mutase. Her postdoctoral work was at the University of Minnesota, USA, at the Bioprocess Technology Institute, where she worked on fatty acid biosynthesis. Subsequently, Professor Roy taught at the Indian Institute of Technology, India, for four years as an Assistant Professor. During this time she worked actively on the production of biodegradable polymers from Streptomyces. At the University of Westminster Professor Roy was the Research Director of the School of Life Sciences and lead the Applied Biotechnology Research Group. She has published over 100 papers in high ‘Impact Factor’ journals such as Biomaterials, Biomacromolecules, Journal of Royal Society Interface, Acta Biomaterialia and ACS Applied Materials Interfaces.She has presented her work at numerous international conferences. Her group is currently focussed on the production of novel polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs), a group of FDA-approved natural polymers and their characterisation. She has pioneered the production of PHAs from Gram positive bacteria which lack immunogenic properties and hence are excellent materials for medical applications. Her group is involved in the application of PHAs in the area of hard tissue engineering, soft tissue engineering, wound healing and drug delivery. She is an editor of the Journal of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology (JCTB) and was the special editor of an In Focus Issue of JCTB on Biodegradable polymers and Controlled Drug Delivery. She is on the BBSRC, EPSRC, NSERC, Canada, FWF, Austria and NSFC, China, ESF, MUIR grant-reviewing panels. Her work has been funded by the EPSRC, EU, DuPont and WESTFOCUS, London.Professor Royhas been the scientific coordinator of two large EU projects REBIOSTENT, worth 4.9 million Euros with 14 consortium members and HYMEDPOLY, worth 3.5 million Euros with 12 consortium members.Shewas also the work package leader of another large EU FP7 project, NEURIMP, worth 4.4 million Euros with 8 consortium members and in the H2020 project POLYBIOSKIN worth 3 million Euros with 12 consortium members. Currently she is part of the consortium in the H2020 project ECOAT worth 4.6 million Euros. These projects involve the use of PHAs for medical applications, drug eluting biodegradable stents, nerve guidance conduits, antibacterial polymers and wound healing; and for eco-friendly coatings. Also, she has recently received EPSRC funding for the development of smart wound healing patches (CYCLOPS) and drug eluting biodegradable stents.

Patricia obtained her MSc from Leiden University (The Netherlands), studying the selective reduction of nitrosobenzene over mixed manganese oxides. She obtained her PhD from Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands) studying TS-1 zeolite synthesis and catalytic applications. Following a post-doc at Shell research centre (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), she learned all about TEM during a long post-doc period at the NCHREM (Delft, The Netherlands). Subsequently she was appointed assistant professor at the Chemical Engineering department (catalysis engineering group) at Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands). She moved to the University Of Cape Town, South Africa in 2015 as SARChI Chair Nanomaterials for Catalysis. She has always enjoyed travelling and has held many short-term visiting scientist positions throughout her career. Her research focusses on heterogeneous catalysis, especially catalyst characterisation. She is an expert in high resolution transmission electron microscopy and is one of the pioneers in gas-phase in situ TEM.

Ermelinda Falletta is a researcher at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Milan. Her research activity deals with: i) development of innovative environmentally friendly approaches for the preparation of intrinsically conducting polymers and their composites and their application in the field of environmental remediation and piezoresistors, ii) development of heterogeneous catalysts for the selective oxidation of organic compounds and photodegradation of emerging pollutants, iii) development and optimization of new analytical methods (in particular UHPLC-MS/MS, GC/MS and SPME/GC/MS) for the identification and determination of target and non-target species in the environment and biological sectors. She was coordinator of the Laboratory of Analysis of the Department of Chemistry of the University of Milan from 2009 to 2020. She is referee of several international journals with IF and editorial board Member of numerous journals. Dr Falletta was supervisor/co-supervisor of more than 35 experimental thesis of degree courses: Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Scienze e Sicurezza Chimico-Tossicologiche dell'Ambiente, Biotechnology. She is teacher of the courses of Analytical Chemistry and Laboratory of General Chemistry for the Bachelor Degree Course in Scienze e Sicurezza Chimico-Tossicologiche dell'Ambiente at the University of Milan.

Mina Mazzeo graduated in Chemistry cum laude at University of Salerno in 1997. In 2001 she earned her Ph.D. at the University of Salerno defending a thesis regarding post metallocene catalysts for olefin polymerization. From 2001 to 2016 she was Assistant Professor at Chemistry and Biology Department of Salerno University. In the 2006 she was visiting professor in the research group of prof. Jonas Peters at California Institute of Technology (Caltech). From May 2016 she is Associate Professor (CHIM/03) of the Chemistry and Biology Department "A. Zambelli". Research interests include the synthesis of new metal complexes as homogeneous catalysts for the ring opening polymerization of cyclic esters and copolymerization of epoxides and anhydrides to produce biodegradable and biocompatible polymers.

Antonia Iazzetti is a professor assistant at Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Rome, working in the field of organometallic chemistry.Since her PhD in Pharmaceutical Science at Sapienza University of Rome in 2013, Antonia Iazzetti focused her research activities on the development of new synthetic methods for the construction of polyfunctionalized molecules of biological interest taking advantage of palladium, copper, and gold catalysis. Recently, working in the frame of a relevant European research project (Horizon 2020), she has aimed to the valorization of industrial by-products developing innovative and sustainable extraction/purification/concentration technology to be applied to the recovery of valuable compound from production side-streams. She is author of more than 30 scientific publications in international journals indexed by Scopus and WOS.

Norito Takenaka received a B.A./M.A. degree from Boston University in 1996, where he worked in the laboratory of Professor James S. Panek. After receving a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2002 under the guidance of Professor Viresh H. Rawal, he spent two and half years as a postdoctoral fellow with Professor Hisashi Yamamoto at the same institution. He began his independent career at the University of Miami in 2005 and then moved to Florida Institute of Technology in 2014. His research program is focused on organic synthesis and catalysis.

Graham Hutchings is Regius Professor of Chemistry at Cardiff University. He studied chemistry at University College London. His early career was with ICI and AECI Ltd where he became interested in gold catalysis. In 1984 he moved to academia and has held chairs at the Universities of Witwatersrand, Liverpool and Cardiff. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2009, a founding Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales and a Member of Academia Europaea in 2010. He was awarded the Davy Medal of the Royal Society in 2013, the ENI Award for Advanced Environmental Solutions in 2017, the RSC Faraday Lectureship and Prize in 2018 and a CBE in 2018.

Pablo S. Fernández was born in Argentina. He received his B.Sc (2006) and Ph.D. (2011) in the Research Institute of Theoretical and Applied Physical Chemistry (INIFTA) at University of La Plata, La Plata, Argentina under the supervision of Profa. Maria E. Martins. During 2012-2014 he was postdoctoral fellow in the same institution.In 2014 he joined the Electrochemistry Group at the Chemistry Institute of São Carlos, USP, where worked as a Posdoc with Prof. GermanoTremiliosi-Filho until August of the same year when he was appointed Assistant Professor at the Chemistry Institute of the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). Between 2010 and 2013 he visited the group of Prof. Giuseppe Câmara (UFMS-MS) where he worked intensively with FTIR in situ. From 07/2015 to 03/2016 he joined the Catalysis and Surface Chemistry Group, at the University of Leiden (The Netherlands) working under supervision of Prof. M.T.M. Koper. He is currently Assistant Professor at UNICAMP, head of the Campinas Electrochemistry Group (CampEG) and Co-Principal Investigator in the Center for Innovation on New Energies (CINE). Since 2020 is the Brazilian representative of the SIBAE (Ibero-American Society of Electrochemistry) and Director of the Physical Chemistry Division of SBQ (Brazilian Chemical Society). His research focuses on fundamental aspects of electrochemistry and electrocatalysis.

David Eisenberg is an Assistant Professor at the Schulich Faculty of Chemistry and an associate of the Grand Technion Energy Program at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. He studied Physical Organic Chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and served as an R&D officer at an Israeli National Lab. He completed post-docs in electrocatalysis at the University of Texas at Austin as a Fulbright Fellow and an Ilan-Ramon Fellow (with Prof. Allen J. Bard and Prof. Adam Heller) and in the University of Amsterdam (with Prof. Gadi Rothenberg). The Eisenberg Lab for Electrochemistry and Energy is focused on electrocatalysis in the nitrogen and oxygen cycles, and the rational design of nanostructure in catalytic materials. He won several teaching and research awards.

Jiuxing Jiang receives his Ph.D degree form Jilin University in 2010. Afterward, I spent 5 years for a Post Doc. stay in Instituto Technologia Quimica (UPV-CSIC) in Valencia Spain supervised by Prof: Avelino Corma.After independent work in Sun Yat-sen University (2015-now), I keep my interesting on the topologically new zeolite synthesis (four three letter code, IRR, -IRY, -IFU, -SYT were granted by Structure Committee of Internation Zeolite Association), and zeolite based heterogeneous catalysis, such as: acid-base catalysis, catalytic ammonium synthesis, NH3-SCR for deNOx reaction etc. I have published more than 20 high impact journal articlas, such as Science,Angew. Chem. Int, Ed, Chem.Sci,Chem. Mater. etc. Among them, the work on the synthesis and structure of zeolite ITQ-43 was published inScience, 2011, 333, 1131-1134 and was selected as annually breakthrough of 2011 by Science. Currently serve as member of Zeolite Committee of Chinese Chemical Society and youth editorial member of journal of Chemical Research in Chinese University.

He is an author of macrokinetic theory of coherent-synchronous reactions interaction. He has both defined a concept of chemical interference and proposed an equation of determinant considering the condition of coherence as well as phase shifts for the reactions synchronized in time and space. This theory has been definitely proved by experiment. In the basic of enzymes of monooxygenase, peroxidase and catalase reactions was established new biomimetic catalyst and of this direction for the research result in biotechnology new biomimetic sensors has been elaborated. Research of recent years is concerned to biomimetic catalysis, development of high-performance hydroxylation and epoxidation catalytic biomimics resistant to the action of oxidant and high temperatures, the property of hydrogen peroxide to induce various reactions. In the row of fundamental scientific achievements, the important place belongs to new dependent elementary reactions with appropriate kinetic parameters proposed by him. Namely, this circumstance has allowed him and his team to study new free-radical-induced reactions-oxidative fixation of atmospheric nitrogen, conjugated dehydrogenation of alkanes and alkenes, epoxidation, hydroxylation and oxidation of methane to methanol, formaldehyde hydrogen-containing gas. A certain contribution has been made to the study of chemical energy accumulation principles in the conjugated chemical and biochemical systems. In the meantime, the scientific principles of creation of biomimetic sensors - new analytic systems are successfully elaborated under his guidance. Obtaining of nitrogen 1-oxide on the fixation mechanism of molecular nitrogen with hydrogen peroxide by the result of the quantum-chemical studies and existence of stable HOO–N=N–OOH intermediate was theoretically substantiated.

Victor Sánchez-Vázquez, professor at Metropolitan Autonomous University, Iztapalapa. He studied Chemical Engineering and PhD in Biotechnology. His research focuses on the combination of biological and electrochemical techniques for remediation of contaminated soils, this is visualizing two topics: i) the alterations in interfacial interaction in the particles of soil (as a porous medium) by an electric field that improve the bioavailavility of nutrients and contaminants, enhancing a subsequent bioremediation process. ii) a low intensity electric field as an abiotic stress factor that direct the microbial metabolism, enhancing the degradation of pollutants or a metabolite production. Currently, Victor works on environmental projects focused on Sustainable Development and Circular Economy, generating links among the academic, industrial and government sectors.

Lucia Veltri was born in Cosenza in 1975. In 1999 she graduated in Chemistry at the University of Calabria and on 12.12.2002 she has obtained the title of Ph.D. in chemistry at the same University. From 2003 to 2006 she was a research fellow at the University of Calabria, working on the synthesis of new materials for optical devices. In 2007 she became Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry at University of Calabria. In 2015 she won a research funding for the "International Mobility of Young Researchers" which she spent at the University of Greenwich (research group Prof. Dobbs) for 6 months. Her research activities concern synthesis of new organic compounds of pharmaceutic and/or applicative interest by homogeneous catalysis. Her scientific production includes: 51 peer-reviewed papers in international journals, 3 patents and more than 60 Communications at conferences.

Geun-Ho Han received Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Kwan-Young Lee at Korea University. He received his B.Sc. in Chemical and Biological Engineering at Korea University (2016). His research interests are in developing catalysts for the direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide with nanoparticle synthesis and metal-oxide materials, renewable energy (lignin), and liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHC).

Tiziana Marino was born in Cosenza (Italy) in 1965. She received her degree in pharmaceutical chemistry and technology at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in 1990 and her Ph. D. in "Chemical Sciences" at the University of Calabria in 1996. From 1996 to 2002 she was adjunct professor of General and Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Calabria. From 2002 to 2004 she was a research fellow at the Department of Chemistry, University of Calabria. From April 2005 to October 2014 she was a researcher in the department of chemistry - Faculty of Sciences MFN of the University of Calabria (now the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies, CTC). Since November 2014she is Associate Professor of General and Inorganic Chemistry (CHIM03) at the CTC Department of UNICAL. Starting from January 2007 and until January 2011, she was a member of the national representative body of the university system (CUN) as a representative of the researchers of the 03 Chemical Sciences area. Her research activity is focused on the theoretical study, essentially in the field of density functional theory (DFT), of the elementary mechanisms of biological processes catalyzed by metalloenzymes and biomimetics as well as those characterizing homogeneous catalysis. The main themes of recent years are the catalytic promiscuity expressed by particular metalloenzymes studied both at the pure quantum mechanical level (QM) and at the hybrid level (QM / MM). Her research activity also includes the computational study of systems containing metals and not, applying analysis methods on mechanics (MM) and Molecular Dynamics (MD) as well as analysis methods on quantum mechanics. Over time she has developed Italian and foreign scientific collaborations, some of which have already been proven by joint work with members of very important research groups at national and international level in the field of theoretical and computational chemistry. She is author of more than 120 articles in magazines and books with international circulation and with a medium-high impact factor. Anne M. Gaffney is the Chief Science Officer of Idaho National Laboratory and Distinguished National Lab Fellow (2014 – present). She has thirty-four years of experience working in industry inventing and commercializing new technologies for major chemical manufacturing companies including Koch Industries, Lummus Technology, Dow, Dupont and ARCO Chemical Company. She has authored 155 publications and 256 patents. Dr. Gaffney is also a distinguished Joint Appointment Fellow at the University of South Carolina (2018 – present) where she is the Technical Director of the National Science Foundation Center for Rational Catalyst Synthesis. Some of her recent awards include: the 2019 American Chemical Society, Energy & Fuels, Distinguished Researcher Award in Petroleum Chemistry; the 2015 Eugene J. Houdry Award of the North American Catalysis Society; the Chemical Heritage Foundation, Women in Science Inductee, 2014; and the American Chemical Society, Industrial Chemistry Award, 2013. Dr. Gaffney received her BA in chemistry and mathematics from Mount Holyoke College and her Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry from University of Delaware.

Roshanida A. Rahman is an associate professor at University Technology Malaysia and currently holding an academic administrator position as Deputy Dean (Student Affairs) Faculty of Engineering. To date, she has been serving as an academicianin chemical engineering field for 20 years.She is also a member of IChemE and UK Engineering Council Chartered Engineer. She has published more than 60 papers in reputed journals, and many more in other platforms. Her research interests are enzyme immobilization, biorefinery and wastewater treatment.

J.C. Conesa obtained in the University of Barcelona a Master Degree in Chemistry in 1973, and in Physics in 1974. After a PhD sustained in 1977 at Instituto de Catálisis y Petroleoquímica (ICP) on EPR spectroscopy of heterogeneous redox catalysts (the first one on this subject in Spain) and a postdoctoral stay at the Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse (of CNRS) in Villeurbanne (Lyon, France), he entered the permanent research staff of ICP in 1979, becoming there finally Research Professor in 2004. He has been ICP Vicedirector from 2010 to 2014, and Director from 2014 to 2018; he is, at the date of this meeting, Ad Honorem Professor in ICP. He was first in Spain to use synchrotron radiation techniques to study heterogeneous catalysis (from 1987 until now, and more recently in operando mode), and has worked to date in more than half a dozen European synchrotrons.He was also first in CSIC to use quantum calculations, since almost 30 years, to understand heterogeneous catalysis. More than 20 years ago he was first in ICP to promote using microemulsions to make complex oxide nanoparticles, and more recentlyhe pioneered the use of solvothermal methods to make sulphide nanoparticles. He is in addition expert in XPS and FTIR (including operandomode) and in UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopies; and of course in EPR, which he still uses. He worked first on metal-support interactions (focusing on electron transfers); then on CeO2-supoorted metals and oxides (where interfacial electron transfer plays also a key role), firstly for car depollution and later for high temperature solid oxide fuel cells.Since over 10 yearshe focuses onusing CeO2-based combinations for H2 production technologies and abatement of greenhouse gases. In parallel he has kept for several decades interest in photocatalysis and photoactive solids. In particular he was first to evidence experimentally, with photocatalytic methods (doi: 10.1039/c4ta00513a),the validity of the intermediate band scheme allowing to couple two low energy photons to achieve a higher excitation energy. He belongs since 2014 to the Steering Committee of AMPEA, a Joint Programme of the European EERA devoted to advanced materials for sustainable energy, and also to more than one dozen scientific societies, both international and in Spain. His more than 200 articles and book chapters have received to date more than 9500 citations, leading to a Hirsch index h=56.

Jan Přech obtained his master’s (engineer’s) degree from University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague in 2012. For his Ph.D., he joined the group of Prof. Jiří Čejka at J.Heyrovský institute of physical chemistry of ASCR.He obtained Ph.D. in physical chemistry in 2016 for a study on synthesis and modifications of 2-dimensional titanosilicates in selective oxidation catalysis. Dr. Přech obtained the Jean-Marie Lehn prize in Chemistry 2016 for the best Ph.D. thesis. Then Dr. Přech, joined Laboratory of Catalysis and Spectrochemictry at Universite de Normandie in Caen (France) in thegroupofDr. Valentin Valtchev working on synthesis of metal-zeolite composite catalysts. At present he is a memberofthe CUCAM team and anassistantprofessorat Charles University in Prague. His current research interests include synthesis, characterisation and application of Lewis acidic zeolite based catalysts, 2-dimensional zeolites and metal-zeolite based hydrogenation catalysis.

Eric van Steen studied chemical technology at the Technical University Eindhoven and obtained his PhD for his work on understanding of cobalt and iron-based CO Fischer-Tropsch hydrogenation from the Technical University Karlsruhe (Germany) working towards his PhD on. He subsequently moved to the University of Cape Town, where he currently occupies the South African Research Chair in Reaction Engineering. His research focuses on the in-depth understanding of heterogeneously catalysts by devising model systems to investigate promoter effects and metal-support interactions. He is well-known for his work in the area of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis and lately focussing on operating the Fischer-Tropsch process at high conversion to minimise the capital cost for these processes. Lately the focus his research has shifted to include CO2 hydrogenation, methane oxidation and photo-catalytic conversions.

Rebeca Martinez-Haya studied Chemical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. In 2014, she completed the Experimental and Industrial Organic Chemistry Master and started her PhD under the supervision of Prof. M.A. Miranda and Prof. M.L. Marín. Her thesis was focused on the mechanistic study of different photoredox processes using time resolved techniques. She has made three research stays, during the Chemical Engineering degree, at the laboratory of Prof. Krakovsky from Karlova University (Czech Republic), with an Erasmus grant; as pre-doctoral student at the laboratory of Prof. König of Regensburg University (Germany), with a DAAD grant; and as a post-doctoral researcher at the laboratory of Prof. N. Martin from Complutense University of Madrid (Spain). In 2017 she was one of the two PhD students selected for the “Ford- Apadrina la Ciencia” contracts and, in 2020, her Thesis was awarded (ex-aequo) as the best Thesis of Photochemistry by the Group of Photochemistry of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry. Currently, she works at the Institute of Chemical Technology of Valencia (Spain) and her interests are focused on the development and characterization of nanomaterials with photochemical activity and on redox photocatalysis.

Gang xu is an associate professor of the College of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Zhejiang University and got Ph. D. in Organic Chemistry in Zhejiang University in 2005. In 2016, he studied 1year in the School of Pharmacy of Mississippi University as visiting scholar. His research interests are mainly about the efficient construction of chiral chemical compound by the Chemo-Enzymatic method.

Irene Bosque received her undergraduate degree in 2010 at the University of Alicante with honors. She completed her PhD in 2014 under the direction of Prof. José Carlos González-Gómez before moving to the lab of Prof. Corey Stephenson at the University of Michigan, MI, U.S.A. Then she performed a second postdoctoral stay at the Technische Universität München, Germany, in Prof. Thorsten Bach lab. In 2019 she returned to her hometown University as a Juan de la Cierva researcher where she is now starting her independent career. Her interests focus on the development of cross-dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) reactions by means of electrochemistry or photocatalysis as a more environmentally friendly alternative approaches to classic reaction conditions.

Stefan Vajda is the head of the recently established Department of Nanocatalysis of the J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Science located in Prague. He is also the ERA Chair holder at the Institute. Stefan pioneered the studies of atomically precise size- and composition selected subnanometer size cluster-based catalyst under realistic reaction conditions of temperature and pressure in industrially relevant processes. Stefan received his Diploma (MSc) degree in Physical Chemistry and his PhD in Chemistry from Charles University in Prague, and habilitated from Experimental Physics at the FreieUniversität Berlin. His awards include a Fulbright Fellowship spent at the University of Chicago. Before returning to Prague in 2019, Stefan was active at the FreieUniversität Berlin and Argonne National Laboratory US. During his career, Stefan published over 110 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, has 6 issued US patents and presented over 80 invited talks at international conferences.

Mats Göthelid is professor at Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan (KTH) in Stockholm. He recieved his PhD 1995, and did his post-doc at CRMC2-CNRS in Marseille, France 1995-96. Since 1996 he is at KTH leading a group in surface and interface science. The research work is within experimental surface physics and chemical physics on subjects concerning atomic structure, electronic properties and surface reactions on semiconductors, metals and oxides related to semiconductor thin film growth, organic thin films for solar cell and sensor applications, surface chemistry related to corrosion and catalysis.

Radek Zbořil(*1973) was a former Director of Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials at Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic (www.rcptm.com). After finishing the Ph.D. study (2000), he underwent several short-term stays e.g. at University of Delaware and University of Tokyo. Currently, he works as the head of the group at VSB Technical University Ostrava. He is co-authors of more than 500 publications and many books published by Springer, Wiley and American Chemical Society. His scientific focus is related to low-dimensional nanomaterials and their applications in medicine, energy and environmental technologies.Prof. Zbořilis co-inventor of many unique nanomaterials including e.g. non-metallic 1D conductors (Nature Nanotechnol. 2020), sustainable non-metallic 2D magnets and magnetic switchers (e.g. Nat.Commun. 2017;Nat. Commun. 2018), or metallic nanoparticles for nanomedicine (e.g. Nature Nanotechnol. 2018). Several his EU and US patents have been licensed and related nanotechnologies introduced in the market. His current h-index is 79/89and total number of citations over 30 000/40 000 (Web of Science/Google Scholar, December 2020). Professor Zbořilwas awarded as Highly Cited Researcher in 2018, 2019, and 2020as announced annually by Clarivate Analytics, US. He has received many other awards including the Award of Czech Republic’s Minister of Education for extraordinary results (2011) and Werner von Siemens Award (2018). Professor Zbořil is the principal investigator of more than 30 national and international grant projects with the total support over 70 mil. EUR. He is the General Chairman of international conference Nanocon and the member of the editorial boards of many journals published by Nature family, Elsevier and Wiley.

Jan Baeyens studied Nuclear Engineering (Brussels) and Chemical Engineering (Leuven). He obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Bradford-U.K. After 13 years of employment in engineering divisions of various Belgian companies, he became a part-time professor at the University of Leuven (B) and worked as a process and project consultant in Europe and overseas. In 2003, he joined the Faculty of Bio-engineering at the University of Antwerp. He then moved as part-time professor to the University of Birmingham (U.K., 2006-2010) and the University of Warwick (U.K., 2011-2017), where he lectured on process design, sustainable development, renewable energy and powder technology, while also co-ordinating research in these fields. Since 2010, he is part-time Visiting Professor at the Beijing University of Chemical Technology, where he is actively (80 days/year) involved as Principal Investigator (P.I.) in research within the Beijing Advanced Innovation Centre of Smart Matter Science and Engineering. Current research mainly focuses on biomass pyrolysis/gasification and subsequent upgrading reactions, bio-aviation fuel, concentrated solar energy and renewable energy in general. He also assists postgraduate students of the School of Life Science and Technology in assessing their research results and in preparing/submitting papers to peer-reviewed journals. He has contributed to over 200 publications in international journals (including several highly-cited review papers in PECS, RSER, HAZMAT, etc.). He is author/editor of 12 books, and is a regular speaker at international congresses. His h-factor is 51 (Scopus) or 59 (Google Scholar), and citations exceed 13000. He is member of the editorial board of Frontiers in Chemical Science and Engineering, and recognized/outstanding reviewer for numerous Elsevier journals. He is currently Managing Guest Editor for 2 VSI's (JEMA and RENE). He was selected by Clarivate (Web of Science) as "Most cited Researcher in the field of Engineering" in 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Since 1989, he is managing director of European Powder and Process Technology (EPPT) and continues to advise Belgian and overseas companies, mostly in the field of powder technology and renewable energy, while also being partner in several European research projects (FP7, and H2020).

Yimin Deng completed a 4 years Bachelor cycle in Chemical Engineering and Technology at the Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT). She obtained her Masters' degree in Fluid Engineering at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées Toulouse (INSA-Toulouse). She started a doctoral research program in Chemical Engineering at the KU-Leuven University (Faculty of Industrial Engineering) under the co-supervision of Prof. Raf Dewil (KU Leuven) and Prof. Jan Baeyens (KU Leuven, BUCT, Univ. Birmingham-UK). She performed pilot-scale research in a concentrated solar furnace (30 kWth) of BUCT and is now looking at further scale-up strategies and solar thermo-chemical and catalytic reactions. This research combines experiments KU Leuven, BUCT and at the University of Birmingham (radioactive tracer imaging). Over the past 2 years, she has published 13 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and cited conference proceedings. Her current main research interests cover two-phase gas/solid systems, their CFD simulations and their application in catalytic gas/solid thermo-chemical reactions.

Victor M Kogan graduated from Oil and Gas University and since 1979 he serves for the Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of sciences as a researcher.Here he accomplished his PhD Thesis in Chemistry (Catalysis) and D. Sc. Thesis (Habilitation). From 2009 he heads the Institute Laboratory of Catalysis by Transition Metals and their Compounds. The catalysts for oil refinery and synthesis gas conversion over transition metal sulfides for alcohol production are in the focus of his studies. Some fundamentals in the field of catalysis by transition metal sulfides has been obtained and commercially used. His research interests includestudies of mechanisms of catalytic reactions,such as olefin and ring olefin metathesis; hydrodesulfurization of oil crudes and fractions, Fischer-Tropsch and alcohol synthesis over p- and d-metals and theirsulfides; synthesis of alcohol and oxygenates over transition metal compounds; development of new types of catalysts for hydrotreating, hydrogenation and isomerization.He worked in some institutions and universities of France, South Korea and PR of China as a visiting professor.

Jiafu Shi is an associate professor at School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Tianjin University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Technology from Tianjin University in 2013. After graduation, he joined the faculty of Tianjin University, and started working at the School of Environmental Science and Engineering. He was a visiting scholar of University of California at Berkeley from 2016 to 2017. His research interest encompasses bio-photo-coupled artificial photosynthesis, biocatalysis, and bioinspired functional materials. He has co-authored over 90 papers including ACS Catalysis (7), Chemical Society Reviews (3), etc. The total citation time was over 2300.

Lifeng Liu received his Bachelor degree in Applied Physics from Beijing Jiaotong University (2001), and both his Master (2004) and PhD (2007) degrees in Condensed Matter Physics from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He joined Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics in 2007, first working as a postdoctoral researcher and then as a staff scientist, under the supervision of the late Prof. Ulrich Goesele. He started his independent research career in 2008 and became a Group Leader in 2009. In 2011, he moved to the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) and set up a research group there, where his research now focuses on the development of new materials for use in electrochemical energy conversion and storage devices including (photo)electrochemical water splitting, rechargeable batteries and supercapacitors.

Junling Lu received his Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Hongjun Gao in 2007. During his Ph.D. studies, he visited Prof. Hans-Joachim Freund’s group at Chemical Physics Department, Fritz-Haber-Institute, Max Planck Society as an exchange student in 2004–2006. After graduation, he spent three years in Prof. Peter C Stair’s group at Northwestern University and then about two and a half years in Dr. Jeffrey W. Elam’s group at Argonne National Laboratory as a Postdoc. In March. 2013, he became a professor at University of Science and Technology of China. His current research interest is atomically-precise design of new catalytic materials using a combined wet-chemistry and atomic layer deposition (ALD) approach for advanced catalysis. His goal is to achieve atomic-level understanding of the structure-activity relationships and design of advanced catalysts with high efficiency. He has published more than 90 SCI papers in total with over 5000 citations. His H index is 40. The papers with first author or corresponding author include one in Nature, one in Science, three in Nat Commun, one in Sci Adv, two in JACS, two in Angew Chem. His work was awarded by MinistryofEducation of China as “2019 top ten progresses of Science and Technology in Chinese Universities”. He has received several awards including the Youth Prize in Chemistry of Chinese chemical society-the Royal Society of Chemistry; 2019 Distinguished Research award of President of USTC; 2019 and 2020 Outstanding Mentor Award, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Alper Uzun, Associate Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering, received his BS in Chemical Engineering from the Middle East Technical University (METU)in 2001. He then joined Prof. IşıkÖnal’s Group at the same department for his MSc. His MSc thesis (2003) was on elucidating the reaction mechanism of the selective catalytic reduction reaction of NO over V2O5 surface by density functional theory calculations. Afterwards, he moved to UC Davis to work under the supervision of Prof. Bruce C. Gates for his PhD. His PhD thesis, completed in 2009, was on understanding the structure-performance relationships in atomically dispersed supported metal catalysts. He, then, joined Prof. Enrique Iglesia’s Research Group at UC Berkeley as a postdoctoral fellow. During this appointment, he worked on identifying the consequences of structural changes in supported metal catalysts on the relative rates of scission reactions of different C–C bonds in naphthenic species. Later, he joined the R&D Center of ConocoPhillips/Phillips 66 and worked as an associate research engineer in Advanced Hydrocarbon Fuels group focusing mainly on designing novel catalytic technologies for producing cleaner fuels to meet the energy needs of future. He then joined Koç University in August 2012 as a faculty member in the Department ofChemical and Biological Engineering. His current research focuses on mainly catalysis for energy and materials for gas storage/separation. Gang Xiao holds a doctoral degree in biochemical engineering and has carried out a joint research at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). He now serves as a lecturer at Beijing Key Laboratory of Bioprocess, Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT). He focuses on fundamental and applied aspects of valorization of waste biomass to produce value-added chemicals. Of specific interest is the construction of visible-light-driven selective catalytic systems and the development of novel photocatalytic mechanism. He has co-authored 23 peer-reviewed papers such as ACS Catalysis, Applied Catalysis B: Environmental with 1000+ citations and an H-index of 14 (Google Scholar).

Franken Tanja studied chemistry at RWTH Aachen from 2006 to 2012. At the Institute for Technical and Macromolecular Chemistry, she carried out her research on spinel-based materials for the decomposition of N 2 O and received her doctorate in 2016 with distinction. Since then, she has concentrated on the development of heterogeneous catalysts based on supported and complex mixed metal catalysts for environmental and energy-related applications. In 2016 she moved to the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) in Winterthur, Switzerland, to develop sulfur-tolerant NO oxidation catalysts and CO 2- Researching hydrogenation catalysts. During this time she deepened her knowledge of the synthesis, properties and applications of mixed metal oxide catalysts and gained her first experience in electrochemical applications of oxidic perovskites. In 2019 she joined the group "Applied Catalysis and Spectroscopy" at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen, Switzerland, to investigate the surface dynamics of CH 4 oxidation catalysts and to improve her knowledge of the operando-Characterization to deepen. Since 2020 Prof. Dr. Tanja Franken Junior Professor for Catalytic and Electrocatalytic Systems and Processes at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). Her research focus is on the investigation and stabilization of highly active transient and metastable surface properties of catalysts based on mixed metal oxides and classic supported systems for the efficient production of sustainable fuels and basic chemicals using Power-to-X technologies.

Maryam Pirmoradi recently received her Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Georgia. She holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tabriz, and a M.S. degree in Biochemical Engineering from the University of Georgia. Her research background mainly involves heterogeneous catalysis and reaction engineering with a central theme of converting green and inexpensive chemicals to value-added products. Her doctoral dissertation was conducted under the supervision of Prof. James Kastner and investigates the use of metal-supported activated carbon monolith catalysts for continuous selective hydrogenation of furfural. She holds a patent on a novel method for production of methacrylic acid from bio-based chemicals and is author of multiple research articles in the field of heterogeneous catalysis and reaction engineering.

Maria Valnice Boldrin Zanoni is a Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry, UNESP, Araraquara. Doctor of Chemical Sciences from the Institute of Chemistry of the University of São Paulo, São Carlos (1989), Post-doctoral at the University of Loughborough, England; University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA and Oxford University. She was advisor of the Research Development from UNESP from 2009-2017. She is currently coordinating of “National institute for alternative technologies of detection, toxicological evaluation and removal of micropollutants and radioaticves”. He received his Ph.D degree from The University of Adelaide, Adelaide, Australia in 2009, and then he spent a few years as a postdoctoral research fellow at The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Melbourne, Australia. He is an expert in applying synchrotron in situ powder X-ray diffraction and small angle X-ray scattering in investigating hydrothermal and solvothermal syntheses of materials for catalysis, energy storage, and environmental applications. Hassan S. Bazzi is the associate dean for research and advancement, interim chair of the Science Program, and professor of chemistry at Texas A&M University at Qatar, a branch campus of Texas A&M University. Dr. Bazzi is also professor of materials science and engineering at Texas A&M University. Dr. Bazzi oversees research administration and services, quality assurance, research instrumentation, research computing, development, academic outreach, and continuing education. He leads an extensive research operation with more than $78 million (12/2018) in active external research funding and an annual expenditure of more than $15 million. Dr. Bazzi was previously the assistant dean for research (09/2014 to 02/2017), the interim chair of the Petroleum Engineering Program from 09/2014 to 09/2015, and before that the chair of the Science Program from 09/2006 to 08/2014 where he oversaw the growth and expansion of the chemistry, physics and mathematics programs. He is the recipient of the Dean’s Leadership Award in 2018 for his administrative leadership; the Dean’s Achievement Award in 2014 for outstanding service; the Dean’s Leadership Award in 2012 for his performance as chair of the Science Program; and the Faculty Excellence Award in 2011 for excellence in teaching, research and service. He also holds the Shield of H.E. President Emile Lahoud of Lebanon (2003). Dr. Bazzi received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry and organic chemistry, respectively, from the American University of Beirut (1996 and 1998), and his Ph.D. in polymer chemistry with Dean’s Honor List from McGill University (2003). He worked briefly with the United Nations as a chemical weapons inspector in Iraq before doing a postdoctoral research fellowship at Université de Montréal. Jacques C. Védrine was born in Lyon, France. He received a chemical engineering degree in 1962 from the “Ecole Supérieure de Chimie Industrielle de Lyon” (now CPE Lyon). He received his “Doctorat ès Sciences” degree (>> PhD degree) in 1968 from the University of Lyon. He spent two years in the USA as postdoctoral fellow in 1969-70 at Varian Associate, Palo Alto in California with Dr. J. Hyde and in 1970-71 at the Chemistry Department, University of Princeton with Prof. J Turkevich as a supervisor. He returned to Lyon at the “Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse” (IRC), a CNRS laboratory within the University of Lyon of 250 people as a CNRS permanent scientist (Chargé de recherches and further on Directeur de recherches). In 1978 he was appointed head of the group working on metallic oxides (heterogeneous acid-type and partial oxidation catalysis fields) at IRC. In 1988 he became deputy director of IRC up to 1998. In 1998 he moved to the University of Liverpool in the UK as Professor with chair at the Chemistry Department, Deputy Director of the “Leverhulme Centre for Innovative Catalysis (LCIC)” and Director of the European Associated Laboratory “High Specificity Catalysis” between CNRS and the University of Liverpool (LCIC-IRC). He moved back to France in 2003 and joined the “Laboratoire de physico-chimie des surfaces” de l’“Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Paris” (ENSCP). He was also part time “chargé de mission” at the Ministry of High Education and Research. He moved in 2006 to the “Laboratoire de Réactivité de Surface de l’Université Pierre et Marie Curie-Paris VI”, where he is working currently.

Born in Argentina, she graduated in Physical Chemistry (1983) from the University of Córdoba, Argentina and obtained a PhD in chemical sciences (1988) from the same institution. She did postdoctoral internships at the Paris University, in France, theState University of Campinas (Unicamp) and at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) in Brazil. In 1996 she was hired as assistant professor in São Paulo University, Brazil, and since 2006 she is Full Professor at the same Institution. She was visiting professor on several occasions at the University of Paris VI; Joseph Fourier University, Grenoble, France; and National University of Engineering, Peru. It maintains international collaboration with researchers from different countries such as Argentina, Australia, Colombia and England. She was vice president of the International Society of Electrochemistry (2013-2015). Her research covers chemistry, with emphasis on electrochemistry, working mainly on the following topics: electrochemistry, nanomaterials, oxides, conducting polymers, spectroelectrochemistry, Raman spectroscopy and plasmonics, sensors and biomaterials. Peng Gao, Professor of Shanghai Advanced Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences(SARI, CAS), Member of Youth Innovation Promotion Association Chinese Academy of Sciences, Member of Chinese Chemical Society. Zhanxi FAN is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, City University of Hong Kong. Raed Abu Reziq completed his doctorate at the Hebrew University in catalysis and sol-gel chemistry. After receiving his Ph.D. degree in 2004, he moved to Ottawa University, Canada, to do his postdoctoral research in the field of nanocatalysis. In 2006, he joined the company Sol-Gel Technologies as Senior Researcher and spent two years in developing micro and nano-encapsulation systems based on sol-gel process as drug delivery systems. Rui Li received the B.S. degree in Applied Chemistry from North China University of Science and Technology, Tangshan (in Hebei Province), China, in 2015 and the M.S. degree in Inorganic Chemistry from Heilongjiang University, Harbin (in Heilongjiang Province), China, in 2018. Professor Dr. habil. Kinga Góra-Marek is co-author of about 100 papers in scientific journals and numerous communications in national and international conferences.

Aharon Gedanken obtained his Ph. D. degree from Tel Aviv University, Israel. After his postdoctoral research at USC in Los Angeles. He got a lecturer position at BIU on Oct. 1975. In 1994 he switched his research interest from Spectroscopy to Nanotechnology. His special synthetic methods of nanomaterials include: Sonochemistry, Microwave Superheating, Sonoelectrochemistry, and Reactions under Autogenic Pressure at Elevated Temperatures (RAPET). Since 2004 he is mostly focused on the applications of nanomaterials. Gedanken has published 870 per-reviewed manuscripts in international journals. His H-Index is 97 (Web of Science) and 110 (Google Scholar). He was a partner in five EC FP7 projects one of them, SONO, was coordinated by him. This project was announced by the EC as a “Success Story”. He was the Israeli representative to the NMP (Nano, Materials, and Processes) committee of EC in FP7. He was awarded the prize of the Israel Vacuum Society in 2009 and the Israel Chemical Society in 2013 for excellence in Research in Feb. 2013. Md. Maksudur Rahman Khan is Professor in the department of Chemical Engineering at Universiti Malaysia Pahang. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Lviv Polytechnic National University in 1997. His previous professional experience was with r Science at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (1998-2015) and Yuan Ze University (2003-2005). His research interests encompass the fields of energy and environment mainly focusing on developing catalysts for CO2 conversion to fuel (by photocatalysis and photo-electrocatalysis), biodiesel production from nonedible oils, simultaneous wastewater treatment and power generation by microbial fuel cells, dry reforming of hydrocarbons as well as biopolymer and composite preparations. He has published more than 160 papers in peer-reviewed journals.

Honghao Hou, obtained his B.S. from Anhui University in 2012. In 2017−2018, he worked as a visiting research scholar at Prof. Thomas P. Russell’s group at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He joined the Southern Medical University in Guangzhou, China as a full professor after received his Ph. D. degree at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2019. He is currently leading a research group focusing on functional biomedical material and bio-surface and interfacial tissue engineering.

Qiusheng Yan was born in 1962. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in mechanical manufacturing at Tianjin University in 1990, and he conducted cooperative research in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Tohoku University, Japan from 1997 to 1999. Since 2002, he joined as a researcher in Guangdong University of Technology, surviving the professor. His research directions contain the development and application of optoelectronics, microelectronics hard and brittle materials (such as SiC, GaN, diamond, sapphire, etc.), ultra-smooth processing (such as chemical mechanical polishing, magnetorheological finishing, etc.), energy-saving and material-saving processing technology, the development and application of numerical control technology and equipment. He has published more than 300 peer reviewed papers, more than 160 innovation patents with 60 authorization. He undertook more than 20 government and company sponsored projects and obtained 4 awards including the excellence award for China patent (2013), the gold medal for Guangdong patent (2013), the second prize of science and technology award of Guangdong Mechanical Engineering Society (2013), the outstanding paper award of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (2011).

Hans-Peter Steinrück did his PhD in physics at TU Graz 1985, was postdoc at Stanford University 1985/86, received his Habilitation at TU München 1992, and became Professor of Physics at Würzburg University in 1993. Since 1998, he holds a chair of Physical Chemistry at University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He was Guest Professor at USTC/Hefei in China, holds a honorary doctorate degree from Szeged University in Hungary, is member of the European Academy of Sciences, the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the Austrian Academy of Sciences and Academia Europaea, and is Fellow of APS and AAAS. In 2016 he received an ERC Advanced Grant, in 2017 the AVS Medard W. Welch Award in the USA, and in 2019 the Morino Lectureship in Japan. His research focusses in surface and interface science, from ionic liquids, porphyrins, liquid metals and liquid organic hydrogen carriers to chemically modified graphene. As experimental tools, he applies a variety of ultra-high-vacuum-based techniques, ranging from lab- and synchrotron-based electron spectroscopy and diffraction to scanning probe methods and molecular beams. He mentored more than 60 PhD students and 25 postdocs and published more than 380 peer-reviewed papers.

Abraham (Avi) Marmur received his D.Sc. in 1974 at the chemical engineering department, Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, then spent two years in Buffalo, NY as a postdoc with Eli Ruckenstein. He returned to Technion in 1976 as a faculty member and is now a Professor Emeritus. During this period, he spent two Sabbatical years, one at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and another at the IBM Almaden Research Center. Prof. Marmur has worked and published extensively in the field of interfacial phenomena for more than forty years and has been consulting for major companies. He has also participated in many international conferences and has been active in lecturing in universities and industrial sites in many countries. His papers are highly cited. In addition, he was an editor of Reviews in Chemical Engineering, and was on the advisory committee/editorial board of Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, Colloids and surfaces A, Surface Reports, Entropy, and Surface Innovations. At Technion, professor Marmur received awards for excellence in research and in teaching. In 2017 he received the Association of Advanced Materials Medal. His main goal is to study the fundamentals of interfacial phenomena and apply them to practical applications. Examples are the definition of surface tension, correlations for interfacial tensions, correct ways of measuring contact angles, super-hydrophobicity, and unexplored cases in nucleation.

Abdul is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia. He completed his PhD. degree in Chemistry and Nanotechnology from Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia in 2011. His research interests include fundamental and applied aspects across disciplines of nanotechnology, material chemistry, biosensor and energy. His research aims to understand the interactions between nanostructured materials and surface chemistries, focusing on noble metal nanoparticles and nanoporous materials. These systems are optimized for applications in catalytic, biosensing, fuel cells, and others. Research outcomes aim to address concerning problems in health, environment and energy.

Stepan Kment received his PhD in solid state physics and photoelectrochemistry in 2010 from Czech Technical University in Prague, Czech Republic. He then spent one year as a postdoctoral research fellow at Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Nebraska – Lincoln, Lincoln, NE, USA. Since 2011 he has been working at the Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials of Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic as a Senior Researcher and from 2017 as the Photoelectrochemistry group leader. Since 2020 he has been also working as a senior researcher at Nanotechnology Centre, VŠB–Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic. His research is focused on development of new materials and nanostructures for renewable energy applications such as PEC water splitting, CO2 reduction, and PEC solar cells. He has published more than 100 research papers.

Vitaly V Ordomsky received his MSc (2006) and PhD (2009) degree from Moscow State University in the field of zeolite catalysis. He was a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Eindhoven University in the Netherlands, working on biomass conversion. Afterwards, he received a permanent position as a researcher in 2013 at the CNRS (France) in the Energy group of Lille University working in C1 chemistry focusing on the conversion of CO, CH4 and CO2. From 2016 to 2019 he was CNRS researcher in E2P2L laboratory in Shanghai. His main research field is the development of new nano-materials for sustainable catalysis.

Su Jing is professor of Chemistry at the Nanjing Tech University. She obtained her Master’s degree in chemistry at Nanjing University, and the doctorate degree in chemistry at Swansea University. Her research interests include responsive materials, photocatalysts and anticancer prodrugs. She is author of about 100 peer-reviewed papers and three books, and she holds four patents.

Tudor Spataru is an assistant professor at Hostos Community College, City University of New York and a teaching associate in the Department of Chemistry, Columbia University. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Padua, Italy and at the City College, City University of New York. His research interest includes a modern approach to the electronic structures and mechanisms of enzymes.
